StColette
And the only reason I like the smell of swisher sweets and black and milds is because of my uncle. When I was little I would crawl up in his lap and watch tv with him and he would be smoking his pipe which either had swisher sweet or black and mild tobacco in it. jp2_rules
How about pipes? I bought one and had a heckuva time trying to smoke it...Any advice on smokin' those bad boys?
nothing like a little smoke with the boys on a cool evening...man, it's amazing. advice?? like what? it's not too hard to light one. make sure you fill the bowl, and tip it a little as you light it, so the flame gets to the tobacco more than it gets to your finger. just like a cigar, don't inhale it, just pull with your mouth, and pull as you hold the lighter to it. once it gets smokin', you're good to go, bro!! and no, i don't recommend smoking, for many health reasons. however, a pipe or cigar on an occasional basis isn't the end of the world. it only takes one to get cancer, but i dunno. i don't have a prob at all with an occasional smoke. i'll smoke once or twice a semester, and that's it. and then not at all over the summer. peace, chris
Pio Nono
JMJ 8/15 - Assumption of Our Lady I just had one of those Maker's Mark cigars about a week ago, and it was AMAZING. I also have a couple of pipes and try to smoke every so often.
Laudate_Dominum
I smoke a pipe. It's not bad because I don't inhale the smoke, therefore I won't get emphysema or lung cancer. I got a really cool kind of pipe tobacco today, "American Spirit Pow Wow Blend". It's natural, additive free tobacco with special ceremonial herbs added that I guess Native Americans use for rituals or something. All I know if that it's really cool. jasJis
I'm an ex-smoker. Sadly, I have family that owns a cigar store and one that helps run a cigar manufacturor here in Tampa. I could have all the free cigars I want (I used to get them), but, alas, I quit. Cohiba's are good, but you have to buy them in Canada. Don't trust the ones in Mexico. I tend for a milder, cooler smoke, so that means a lighter wrapper and larger size with an easy draw. In Ybor, one can get custom hand rolls where you pick your filler, wrapper, style, cut, etc. If you are having problems with the pipe, your' packing it wrong, or the tobacco is dried out. It should stay lit like a cigar, so it has to be packed kinda tight, but not so tight the ember just burns in the middle and you have to draw hard. Dry tobacco burns up, loose pack won't stay lit, tight pack doesn't burn even when you draw. Smoking any tobacco product increases your risk of cancer. Just because you don't inhale, doesn't mean that your soft tissues aren't absorbing the nicotine and other by-products. St. Joeseph helped me kick the habit, cold turkey, after 20+ years of heavy smoking. No withdrawl symptoms. Been smoke free for almost 10 years. (Yeah, I started smoking young.)
