On social issues such as welfare etc, not moral issues such as abortion and gay marriage, which way do you lean between the two?

[quote name='Aloysius' date='Aug 18 2005, 01:06 PM']hmm.... I'd like to see Social Secuirity abolished, welfare greatly cut back, property tax abolished, less paperwork and safetynets for people starting small businesses, a government that is a lot smaller with more states rights and less federalization, hmm... I suppose that makes me pretty darn far-right?  yeah I suppose it does.  :D:

ooo... but there should be a federal law against abortion the same way there is against murder, but I'll settle for letting the states decide if that's all we can get for now.

Agreed, though I bet both Democrats and Republicans would love not to pay property taxes.

Republican, but some of the Democrats' policies are good (pro-enviroment for example).

i think i'd support the republicans with regards to welfare... single moms on welfare are married to the government. there has to be a better way to show citizens how to take care of themselves and their families without removing their dignity and enslaving them to the state.

[quote name='zwergel88' date='Aug 12 2005, 09:57 AM']I'm a democrat.  As far as things like welfare go, of course there are people who abuse the system, but I think that it is a basically good program that helps people who would otherwise have no way of getting by.

agreed. I would rather see people get fed than have this right taken away because of people who abuse the system. I would rather see people make twenty bucks an hour even if they didnt "deserve" that much for what they do...........compared to everyone making eight bucks an hour (those without college degrees) not getting enough for what they do and of course, having a small amount of the nations population reeping all the benefits.

I heard about this country in the middle east somewhere that offers free, excellent college education to its people........along with many other unheard of benefits. I guess this small country is very rich with oil refinery's and such. Just an example of how a wealthy, non-greedy government could really do a lot for its people of it so chose. The problem with america doing this is it is so wrapped up in business. Neither a democrat or a republican could offer this. I think the economy could though. We could become more self-dependent as far as resources go. It would just take a little less influence from politics.......that's all. Darn greedy politicians.

first of all i am not racist but there is something political that has been going on that really bothers me. I am not against someone making a better lifestyle for themselves..........i and anybody would do the same. What i am referring to is the amount of hispanics from south of the united states coming to america. I am pretty sure that bush has made it easier for them to get american citizenship. I dont agree, however i am glad for the mexicans who come here and do a good job with a lot of the blue collar type works that they do. However, I feel that the governent should prevent this. I think it takes a lot of jobs away from native born americans. I think Bush was thinking more along the lines of cheaper wages for blue collar work. Bull carp if you ask me..........you are taking jobs away from native born americans............really i think in the long run it will hurt the economy but it probably wont be that much at all any time soon. Really i think higher paying jobs would be much better for the economy than a bunch of low paying jobs. I remember from history class that during world war I the nation had such a small number of ultra wealthy people that the economy collapsed. All these ultra rich people controlled a high majority of the stocks and since there was a war the wouldnt exchange. This is totally were our country would end up again if this conservative ideal of money continues........not enough taxes on the rich and not enough government control.

there is but this country is so wrapped up in business and so dependent on business that this country will basically come to a period of "survival for the fittest". A big conservative ideal is "you get what you work for". Well unfortunately the conservatives determine what we get.

yea unfortunately its the republicans who charge high property taxes. This is something that i think people should realize.........republicans give us tax breaks at the end of the year and such yet they take it right back in other areas. Im glad they got rid of the death tax for farmers though........i dont think farmers should be taxed. I think there should be less camping by police officers and more road time...............but i think they should be payed more............along with teachers and a few others..........even regular doctors should be payed more. These are the people that maintain order and structure in society............yet business is where the dough is at.

LOL.............just an idea.............high business executives remind of celebrities...........without the fame part of course...........all they do is travel and put on a smile and look confident.......thats all they do. Talk about earing your living.

Dont ever vote me in for prez............you might think i was socialist in some areas........i am.........i do believe in government regulated free-enterprize and higher taxes. I think this would offer more freedoms to americans.
