it's more important what it means to YOU! You want your band name to be hip to those that listen to your genre of music. If it was hard rock, a name like Crucifix would be fitting, it it's pop-rock, maybe not. Also, in all of music, and especially Catholic music, your web presence is going to be one of your primary marketing tools. Make sure you have a name that (1) you can get a domain for, and (2) that people can remember how to spell to get there and tell their friends to go there.

I'm always on the lookout for cool band names, in case I ever start or join one. *crosses fingers*

I like looking for random words that stick out to me when I'm reading something, especially the Bible. Like for example, Remnant. It's an ordinary word that gets used often, but given it's Biblical context, it gives it a whole new meaning. That's what I'm always looking for. ^_^

Just a suggestion...you never know when you'll be inspired!

"cause if I had a first name, it's OSCAR and if I had a last name it's MAYER"

I have to stick with Ryan on this one. It all depends on your genre and fans. People judge books by their cover and bands by their name. so many people have "heard" of a band, but never heard them, so what do they do? they judge them on their name. Ryan Meyers wouldn't be a hardcore band's name (unless ryan was a murderer or something) and inDEED wouldn't either, but yet by hearing both of those names you could make a pretty good guess what style they are.

Veritas would be a good tough guy or metal name...just think of some big growly voice guy announcing...."WE ARE VERITAS!...ROAARRRRRR"

Crucifix sounds like an 80's hair band.

You also have to think of the "make fun of you" factor. If you can make fun of you band name easy...so will everyone else. don't have a band name that easily rhymes with something bad.....reminds me of a random story

"my wife and I were driving around and someone had a sign in their yard that they made out of bright yellow poster board and a marker. It had the bible verse small in the bottom corner. small in the top corner it said "God said"...then in huge drawn letters it said I COME QUICKLY." enough said. choose wisely.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH, I wish I were an oscar mayer weiner...

look kids, here come the painful flashbacks from childhood...

anyway, yeah. you still haven't given us a set genre to think about. "Rock" is about as general as you can possibly get. I understand not wanting to "pigeon-hole" into a specific sound, but the truth is that if a potential listener can't find out quick (like instantly) what you're about musically, there are too many other options for them to waste their time figuring it out for themselves.
