thessalonian
No one has the right to go on to private property and put that garbage on people's vehicles... I wonder if they'd dare to do it on Sunday morning... Thess? Did they?
Not at the 8:30. Though I did report it to the office last night so it is possible they were told to get lost. Edited July 31, 2005 by thessalonian
EcceNovaFacioOmni
It is possible that it was just one or two people. Sadly, a woman from our church got in trouble for putting Catholic voter guides on all the cars during Mass. Of all the things...
homeschoolmom
I've never found putting stuff on my windshield (or in my paper box or in my screen door) to be a very effective way to get me to do something. Even stuff I agree with iritates me...
MissScripture
I think it's illegal around here to do that. It adds to littering...or maybe I'm making that up...But I'm pretty sure I heard that somewhere. Anyway, if it isn't it ought to be!

Theoketos
C'mon Catholics What about turning the other cheek? These guys doing the trackting are living up to their christian responsibility to evangelize. Yes, in a pretty misguided way but at least they are being proactive. Maybe this is one to turn over to God - Pray for more ecumenical harmony between all christians.
I am moved by the sentiment of Love. Let me implore you further with Love. I love the Church and Mary, who is the Church. Neither one should be defiled. True dialogue happens when people understand what and why the other sides believes what it does. Nothing has ever made me so secure in my faith as when this happens. It also seems to bring about the most powerful conversions (see Brother Adam). I sincerely doubt that chick tracts are with in Charity, even if they were to be right on anything. I think that FutureNunJMJ should do some tracts she is a better artist than Jack, and like a billion times more charitiable. They would be awesome. Nathan
Well... If I ever caught one of these fundamentalist soul-suckers tagging cars with their BS outside of my parish, it would probably take every fibre of my being to stop myself from knocking him out. I can't stand these people. Why do they have to be like that?

If they are going to be on our territory they are going to hear what we do. I had the opportunity to check the 10:30 mass and they didn't show for it either. I engaged one in conversation (stating that Polish people are already believers).

Throw in a few bible verses here and there, and people uneducated in their faith might be taken in by them. We cannot just stand by idly; I don't want the loss of souls on my conscience. Please read the letters to Timothy and Titus. Paul states that you don't turn the other cheek to heretics preaching false doctrine.

tojo
I wouldn't recommend anyone distributing tracts ina way that targets a particular church congregation. I know they did it, but "two wrongs don't make a right." It is very disrespectful to use another religion's property or services to promote a different religion. BTW, to give you an idea of the effectiveness of these things: At my last Prot church we distributed literature about our church and the gospel (not Chick-like tracts at all) to more than 6,000 homes. One couple visited our church once in response, that's all. Now to be fait, the fact that we didn't have a building does turn some people off.... but that doesn't account for why there were basically no fruits from our efforts. We spent big bucks and devoted many man hours to this project, all in vain......
ofpheritup
"Why is Mary Crying?" is one of the more absurd and asinine. Most people will think it's dumb, if they actually read it (hopefully). I was floored by the sheer stupidity of it when I read it.
Years ago I read the tract called "The Death Cookie." I don't know specifically who wrote it but I would like to thank them. I NEVER LAUGHED SO MUCH IN MY LIFE. I was laughing so hard I actually fell off my chair. You are right they are stupid. Laughingly so. As my floor can verify. Poor floor.
