DeeDee
I found this footnote (!) for John:20:17 On the day of His resurrection the Lord ascended to the Father. This was a secret ascension, the ultimate fulfillment of the going predicted in 16:7. It occurred forty days prior to His public ascension, which took place before the eyes of the disciples (Acts 1:9-11. On the day of the resurrection , early in the morning He ascended to satisfy the Father, and late in the evening He returned to the disciples (v.19). The freshness of His resurrection must be first for the Father's enjoyment, as in the type the firstfruits of the harvest were brought first to God. My question is this: How come I never heard about this until now??? I mean I went to Catholic school, and while I had somewhat a long hiatus, for the last seven years I've been back with the church, and never once heard anybody talk about a double ascension? Why is it a secret?
Laudate_Dominum
That's not from a Catholic Bible. I have reason to believe that is an edition of the Bible put out by Living Stream Ministry. Perhaps the Recovery Version Bible? Anyway, Living Stream Ministry was created by Watchman Nee. Here are some quotes regarding this fellow.
Nee outlines no method of Bible study and interpretation and appears to deny evangelical hermeneutics. In his book Spiritual Authority, he sets himself and his elders up as the unquestionable authorities. By all appearances, Nee saw himself not as a servant but as a guru. One gets the impression from Nee that the Bible was not nearly as important as Christians generally consider it. In his book The Ministry of God's Word, Nee says, "Words alone cannot be considered God's Word." In this book, Nee becomes very philosophical, mystical and incoherent. He says that only as we deliver the Word in terms of the "reality behind it," using what he calls "Holy Spirit memory" and "presenting the pictures as well as speaking the words" will the words be correct; otherwise they are not real.
http://online.recoveryversion.org/FootNotes.asp?FNtsID=2799 http://www.apologeticsindex.org/n01.html There was also a thread about this guy on phatmass a while back. This is not a good version of the Bible. It likely contains many errors. St.Colette did the research on this question.
