Bow Down

actually, as much as i would like to credit my finely tuned analytical skills w/ knowing that u were home-schooled, i was actually just remembering something you posted earlier in this thread (on page 2):

If I was able to go, I would.

I live in the country, and you pretty much need a vehicle to get to the parishes. I haven't been to any of them, but one (which I heard had problems with the Priest).

Plus, I'm Homeschooled. And... I never go anywhere alone by myself outside the house. So... they would notice I'm gone lol.

so, i guess i'm exhibiting my ability to retain what i read more than anything! ;)

btw, did u find that page helpful? holla back,

nick

Oh Drats! Too many posts and not enough time to answer any of them thoughly.

Why am I not Catholic? How can I stand staying out?

If I studied the Buddhist faith and understood everything there is to be a Buddhist, one may ask me why I am not Buddhist. I would tell them because I cannot in good consience become one.

While the Catholic Church, I believe is truly Christian and not pagan as so many protestants believe, I cannot in good consience become a Catholic. I believe God is working through me (why, being the wretched sinner I am, I don't know. Amazing grace and all I suppose :) ). I believe all things are in God's timing, not phatmasses timing.

One thing I hugely appreciate about phatmass is that ya'll keep it real. I wouldn't expect anything other than a rough-around-the-edges ironmonk. It wouldn't be ironmonk anymore. It's okay that he drives me nuts. I may not like it, but it keeps me on my toes. Combined with him and another Catholic named Grant's badgering one day I may not only have written a book, but become Catholic, if Catholicism is the one united faith that prots are searching for. I'm just no where near that kind of conclusion. And I can't try to rush it.

God Bless all of you. Thank you for putting up with me. I know it's gotta be hard.

Love, Bro. Adam

Ahh shoot, before I forget, Likos, on the books, I haven't given up on either of them. I've read through many chapters in The SPirit of Catholicism and at least skimmed the rest. But as you can imagine working 10 hour days 5 days a week with an hour drive back and forth to work along with being newly wed I don't have a lot of time to devote to everything I'd like.

bro adam

do you have any more questions about bowing in front of statues, and the like? if you do, this artilce should just about cover it:

Exposition on the Veneration of Images, Iconoclasm, and Idolatry

it is quite comprehensive, but i hope you will take the time to read it. and of course, if u have any questions, let us know.

pax christi,

nick

Thank you all for your suggestions and advice. My mother doesn't want me to go, because she doesn't want to get involved in "Church politics". She doesn't want the congregation or the Priest to know about her and what she's doing, since this is a small town... and gossip is pretty rampid.

She would rather I go to a parish that is an hour away, all the way in Raleigh (city). But since we rarely drive there, it's highly unlikely.

I totally understand, I used to be in the same boat . . kinda. My whole family is Catholic and doesnt really go to church . . I had to go with my mom to work at 5 in the morning and then with 3 hours and walk a half hour to Mass. It was really annoying, but it made me appreciate it all the more. And in retrospect, it was a great witness to others in my family, and some have even come back to the Church! Hang in there!
