I can't really relate, but I'm praying for you!!!

Disturb us, O Lord

Disturb us, O Lord,

When we are too well pleased with ourselves,

When our dreams have come true because

We dreamed too little;

When we have arrived in safety because we sailed

Too close to the shore.

Disturb us, O Lord,

When with the abundance of things we possess

We have lost our thirst for the water of life;

When, having fallen in love with time,

We have ceased to dream of eternity;

And in our efforts to build a new earth,

Have allowed our vision for the New Heaven to grow dim.

Stir us, O Lord,

To dare more boldly,

To venture seas where storms shall show thy mastery,

Where losing sight of land

We shall find the stars.

In the name of Him

Who pushed back the horizons of our hopes

And invited the brave to follow Him.

Amen.

I can. Someone close to me is goin' through it too.

The key is, don't even think that you can "skip" your regular aa meeting. Even if you can, you open your self up to thinking, "eh, what's one little sip".

Good for you rick. You are in our prayers!

I can. I fell deep into at 19. I ended up getting a D.U.I. and several other altercations because of me dropping to many forties. I went through a twelve steps and AA. Stay strong and remember adoration also anytime your feeling like touching the stuff.

a.a. is wonderful its soo close to church for me. there wasnt anything better that i coul;d have done for myself. i just ran into a frined so now ill have a place to stay. i also wanted everyone to know i was considering nondenominational christian and a.a. kept trying to push me harder and harder which is just like catholism. and ive also been corresponding to a female for a long time in brazil. she wants to move up here and start a relationship with me. she is a practicing catholic even more than me. anyways i dont even know if everyone cares to hear my life story all the time. but i promised to keep in touch and here i am.

Rick, you're not alone. My son is president of the Sober Riders Motorcycle Club, and being in A.A. or N.A. is a membership requirement. I have a brother who is also A.A., and another brother who should be but isn't. I escaped the addiction, but no credit to me. Keep on keeping on. It works!

Hey, if you're crazy about motorcycles, Sober Riders is a growing organization. You could start a club in your town.

Stay in touch. Stay Catholic! Find a Catholic in A.A. to help you. Take foundsheep's advice about sitting in front of the Blessed Sacrament when you're tempted. I know a judge (yeah, a Superior Court judge!) who beat the addiction just that way. Graces flow from the Sacraments.
