M.SIGGA
Can someone be a Christian and also study/follow Kaballistic teachings? I ran across Madonna's Kaballah website for kids and the link to the Kaballah website and it looked pretty interesting. I'll admit that her brand of Kaballah is a little cultish, but there are sects that are widely accepted throughout Judaism. Since Kaballah is part of Jewish mysticism, is it ok for Christians to study and or practice too? I'm personally not interested in following it as a religion or a tradition but it looks pretty interesting. Madonna is a lapsed Catholic who follows this tradition and Britney Spears, a Southern Baptist is also a new follower. SOme of it looks a little sketchy - Is this heresy? http://www.spiritualityforkids.com http://www.kabbalah.com Edited November 19, 2003 by M.SIGGA
Joyful
Ummm... I dont' know a lot about Kaballah, but the intro for the spiritualityforkids site seems very manipulative and misleading.
Anna
If Madonna and Britney are practicing it, I guess that says enough for me.

M.SIGGA
new advent has an article on it... thanks I wouln't have thought to look there. It seems to be a little bit gnostic, but New Advent says some religious scholars think it is compatible w/ Christianity. By the way for the record I think Madonna and Britney are a little messed up. hyperdulia again
newadvent says that it isn't a good middle place for jews on the way to christianity, but my graandmother's maternal grand parents became lutheran after thinking on the implications of three-ness and oneness in kaballah, then my grandmother's mother became a high church lutheran, then my grandmother became a catholic. Aloysius
was it around b.c.? was it taught by the Jewish leaders b.c.? that would tell me if it has merit. if it was taught by Jewish leaders A.D. then it would have no real merit, but it wouldn't necessarily be bad. i donno.
hyperdulia again
kaballists claim it has always been a part jewish mysticism...other jews say it can't beplaced before 800 ad...most christian scholars say it can't be placed before 1200 ad. Aloysius
... interesting. it doesn't have the "Authority of God's Chosen People" merit. but that doesn't necessarily condemn it. even if those some Jews are correct in placing it BC, i don't think the can place it as being taught by the Jewish leaders BC, therefore it doesn't have the AGCP merit.
