Interesting reply Brother Adam, although some of that I would disagree with.
I have one question for you.

IF God left us an authority here on earth that could guide us without error in our interpretation of the Bible, would you want to know about it?
If it was clearly shown in scripture, then yes. If it adds to scripture what is not shown in scripture, then no because I don’t believe it would be real. If you mean in a tangible sense, then it is through imperfect humans and is not itself scripture, then it may still be imperfect. If you mean the Holy Spirit, then I believe that is pretty clear in John 16:13-14.

The truth of that statement is what stopped me when I seriously thought about converting two and a half years ago.
My church does baby dedications and then later does baptism which I think is ok. I think baby baptism, like what I had, is ok but I don't accept infant baptism and nothing more but I think that confirmation serves as an affirmation of baptism as is the Lutheran view. so...you think baby baptism, like what you had, is ok... but you don't accept infant baptism?

what's the difference?

This is the Open Mic, not the Debate Table. If you guys want to start discussing/debating, do it at the table.

Glad you're with us, Light and Truth. :)

the difference between baby baptism and infant baptism is confirmation? what? that makes no sense. it seems like you were ok with "baby baptism" but not ok with "infant baptism," when they are the same.

Between infant baptism and baby baptism in what I was saying, the only difference as far as I meant was just different words for what I understood to be the same thing. In whether or not I agree with it, I think there should be something later, like confirmation. I think baby baptism, like what I had, is ok but I don't accept baby baptism and nothing more. I think that confirmation serves as an affirmation of baptism as is the Lutheran view.

One other thing on that, I don't see it making sense that Jesus would change what he was talking about so that He would go from talking about blood to then talking about wine in Matthew 26:26-29.

Thy Geekdom Come
I also believe that the only real mortal sin is more like disbelief.

Just as faith leads to virtuous acts, disbelief leads to sinful acts. If disbelief is mortal sin, then certainly the acts that stem from it are also mortal sin.

Now the question you've got to ask yourself is...are the sins Catholics traditionally call mortal the kinds of things a believer would do, or a disbeliever?
