Good Friday
Dear friends, I wanted to update you on what God is doing now with my article Loving the Church, Living the Faith: A Response to Andrew Sullivan. As some of you may remember, my article recently appeared on CatholiCity. It was a response to Andrew Sullivan's article that appeared on his weblog and in the New York Times entitled: Losing a Church, Keeping the Faith. Well, I just found out that one of my readers e-mailed my article to Andrew Sullivan. Please pray that he at least gives it a read, and that it will be a seed that falls on fertile soil. When I originally wrote the article, at first it didn't even occur to me to submit it to anyone. But then Dave suggested that I submit it to Envoy. I declined, feeling that was a bit out of my league now, but I decided to submit it to CatholiCity, and frankly I was a little skeptical about them linking to it. I was pleasantly surprised when they did, but even then I didn't imagine that Andrew Sullivan would actually read it. Now it looks as if he might. When I first wrote the article, honestly I wrote it more as a personal affirmation to myself about my convictions. Now it looks as if it may have some effect on people. God truly does wonderful things, even when those things are very unexpected by us. His Providence is so incomprehensible to us that we can't even begin to imagine how much He really works in our lives. I never thought that article would appear anywhere than in my own weblog which few, if any, people read -- but now it has appeared elsewhere, and more people read my weblog, and I can only credit God for both the inspiration to write the article and His little "push" of grace to submit it to CatholiCity. Anyway, I'm ecstatic that Andrew Sullivan may read it. Please pray with me: Sacred Heart of Jesus, we ask You to open the heart of Andrew Sullivan and to bring him closer to You. We ask this in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.

BLAZEr
Nathan, I hope you will consider sending it to Deal Hudson at Crisis Magazine. Believe me, your article is very good. It might need some fine tuning for print, rather than electronic media, but I would suggest it. Also, send it to Fr. Harvey and Fr. Benedicty Groeschel TRINITY RETREAT 1 Pryer Manor Road Larchmont, NY 10538 I know Fr. Benedict, and I know that he would love to read it. Fr. Harvey I don't know so well, but as the founder of Courage, I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Good Friday
Do y'all really think I should send it to these magazines and these people like Fr. Groeschel? I'm not too crazy about the idea of much exposure. As I have said a few times, my mother is a practicing lesbian. Sending these articles to nationally-known and read magazines, and to Fr. Groeschel, could gain me some sort of "fame" -- fame I'm not now looking for, and fame that could hurt my familial relationships. On the other hand, I believe that God inspired the writing of this article (not to say it's His Word, simply to say that I believe He inspired me to write it), and I don't think it's right to "hide it under a bushel" (no!). I guess I really don't know what to do. Edit: ...not to mention that this would effectively "out" me on a nationwide scale, and only a few very close friends have any idea that I have SSAs. That's also something to consider in a country where gay-bashing, especially of young men, is somewhat prevalent (anywhere from verbally to violently). And I have trouble believing that this bashing is really confined to active homosexuals. Your advice, as always, is appreciated. BLAZEr
Nathan, you can ask that it be printed under a pseudonym. But I do believe that the content of your article is very well articulated and would help some people struggling with SSA and who feel like they are the only ones who feel like you do. It's already in the public forum. You might as well let it do God's work. Besides, Fr. Groeschel will probably give you good advice. He's holy. Ask him what you should do with it. Tell him what your Pham and your Fam think. But none the less, he would want to know about this. marielapin
I think the psuedonym is a great idea. Nathan, your article was truly inspiring. I would also urge you to submit it to Envoy, etc. If you are worried about people finding out its you, just make the title of the author "speechless". :)
God Conquers
I agree. Get the word out. Pseudonyms are great.... especially if they allude to OLD SCHOOL Phatmass!

When he uses the Pseudonym, he can say that that's his real name, and Nathan is his Pseudonym.
