Theo...

I've been reading up on Ellusionist...

A lot of guys make good points...Angel is pretty cocky and Blaine seems like the REAL stuff...

Angel's "walk" down the side of Aladdin was RIDICULOUS - it was COMPLETELY OBVIOUS that it was fake...

You think Angel is cocky? I don't know, I think he is a really good magician, and though not everyone likes him, I like what he has done and has continued to do. Essentially, he is taking magic that has long been on stage circus stunts that are obsolete and updating them, as it were.

Personally, I still like him and enjoy watching him....but that is just me.

Theo - did you see last week's? The one where he "walked" down the side of the Aladdin? I mean, the graphics were REALLY bad - VERY blurred to hide his wires...

There was one REAL good trick he did though - the "quarter through the can" trick ROCKED!!!!

The quarter through a can is going to be his first marketed effect, which he is going to sell on his website. However, it is not even his own effect, he actually got the rights and persmissions to use and perform the effect from a young magician by the name of Wayne Houchin http://www.waynehouchin.com/whflash.htm

BTW, Wayne was also the one who came up with the thread through eye effect as well.

I don't quite know what to think about the Aladdin thing, though the video was pretty clear when he did it on the side of the wall on another building as a warm-up, as it were.

You have to remember, some of these effects he has actually done before on his broadway magic show that he used to have. Like I said, he is merely taking what he did on stage and what they used to do as carnival sideshows and updating them and giving them a "20th Century" edge.

Also, if you saw last night's, the one where the quarter went through his arm after swallowing it, that he did on a Halloween special he did last year on the Sci-Fi channel.

My favorite effects by him so far though have been the mindreading ones, I am incredibly amazed by the way he can do that, and the metal bending routine, which I think he has done better than anyone I have ever seen do it, which would make sense since the one of the most well-known guys for metal bending is one of his lead consultants.

Anyway, I will most likely get the DVD, because I enjoy watching him and allowing myself to be entertained. The show is called Mindfreak, and he certainly provides that.

Just my long-winded .01 (the other penny vanished ;)

God Bless

Yep, I saw the whole thing. I also saw, for the second time, as he freaked out Mandy Moore driving her car blindfolded...that was funny.

The quarter under the arm trick is an interesting one, and I think one he invented himself. He used to go for a different look back then, more goth looking, I would imagine he created that effect to match his image.

InDEED, do you still watch this show or am I the only one? If you do, they just released it for download on iTunes, though I record them all on my Media Center. His effects are getting to be a lot better, in my opinion, though I am getting tired of him doing the same similar vanishes all the time.

God Bless

FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still watching it...I TIVO each episode. My wife hates is - but I can't get enough.

I just don't know, Father...Seems like the "crowd" that he typically chooses to "help out" in his tricks are all just going along with it.

Did you see the one where he made an elephant vanish?

I have seen them all, and have recorded all of this season. I enjoy watching it still, and think his effects this season are even better than last season. Did you see when he walked on water? That was pretty cool, so was the one where he vanished in mid-air while going over a jump on a motorcycle.

I am really enjoying this season....if you watched the one last night, you would have seen him expose some really classic magic tricks...well him and Penn and Teller.

Still, I enjoy watching it.
