Sexual Vs. Lustful

Thanks Hyper... for the comments.

I agree Juca that the prayer is powerful. It really brings me comfort as a celibate. For real. And each of us are weak, and we need those graces to resist the craziness presented to us on the regular.

I love you all

So does this mean if I am sitting here typing and look at my wife and say hey "she really looks good today and become aroused and then we have sex ,am I lusting or enjoying the beautiful creature God has givin me to bond with?

Don't you think it depends on your intention? Lust is always self centered , love is not. If you are making love to primarliy get pleasure for yourself then a plastic doll would do as well.

If you are offering yourself as a gift and she offers herself as a gift to you, it is amesome.

Mother of Pearl,

That is a wonderful insight.  I agree that the beauty of sex and sexual expression has been perverted into a complete self gratification experience.

Peace

its not original to me, I am on in a theology of the body study with Father Hogan

The Theology of the Body is "a kind of theological time bomb set to go off with dramatic consequences.... perhaps in the 21st century"

"John Paul's portrait of sexual love as an icon of the interior life of God... one of the boldest reconfigurations of Catholic theology in centuries"

It's "barely begun to shape the Church's theology, preaching, and religious education. When it does, it will compel a dramatic developmentof thinking about virtually every major theme in the Creed."

i really dig the prayers Fr. Pontifex and Seven77, thanks! B)

prayer helps so much, especially when we are bombared through tv, movies, media, etc. They create these ugly scars that only heal with much prayer and God. B)

Remember St. Damien who looked down on his way to school so he wouldn't see the impure things that were going on around him? He is a great example of guarding our eyes also....... ;)
