ofpheritup
Okay I thought I was done with this topic but I guess not. HELLO CATHOLIC FANATIC....loved what you said. Now to the comment about "being charitable." CHARITABLE, SCMARITABLE GO TELL THE COMPANIES THAT ARE SELLING THIS ??? That I want to know what is so CHARITABLE about giving men the impression that they are not good enough. What is so CHARITABLE about putting these men in a position where they doubt who they are. What is so CHARITABLE about these companies only motivation being to make a buck. There is nothing CHARITABLE about allowing someone to continue in their sin because you don't want to hurt their feelings. Charity sometimes means that we are going to have to correct each other. When i am wrong I EXPECT AND DEMAND my friends tell me the truth. THAT IS THE TRUE ESSENCE OF CHARITY. Whoops I almost forgot. I am going to tell the truth SIZE DOES MATTER TO ME. What matters to me is the size of your heart. Edited July 16, 2005 by ofpheritup
Brother Adam
Holy Church teaches the Truth that penis enlargement is a mortal sin. The fact that penis enlargement is a mortal sin is not my opinions; this is the teaching of Holy Church, the Defender of Truth. I do not speak on my own, but It is the Church that speaks. When you question me, you question the Church. If you knew the Church, you would know what I speak is the Truth. But as it is, you do not know the Church or else you would know my words are true. IcePrincessKRS
Hello.. name's Catholic Fanatic. Sorry to make this my first impression. But don't make me break out the writings of the magisterium!
Welcome CF. Please do "bring out the big guns," we're all very curious to see where the Church has condemned penis enlargement. I think we all agree that is can be sinful for reasons of vanity, scandal, and sexual indiscretions, however, you claim to have proof from the writings of the magisterium so I think you really should post it. People have actually been asking for just such information, so please do post it and cite your sources.
Catholic Fanatic
SECTION ONE MAN'S VOCATION LIFE IN THE SPIRIT CHAPTER ONE THE DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON 1700 The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God (article 1); it is fulfilled in his vocation to divine beatitude (article 2). It is essential to a human being freely to direct himself to this fulfillment (article 3). By his deliberate actions (article 4), the human person does, or does not, conform to the good promised by God and attested by moral conscience (article 5). Human beings make their own contribution to their interior growth; they make their whole sentient and spiritual lives into means of this growth (article 6). With the help of grace they grow in virtue (article 7), avoid sin, and if they sin they entrust themselves as did the prodigal son1 to the mercy of our Father in heaven (article 8). In this way they attain to the perfection of charity
Notice the biblical reference to the image and likeness of God, which is another citation. These are all general arguments in defense of the sanctity of the human body. I can break out writings from the ordinary and universal magisterium if you would like and can wait a bit.
As I've said, my main issue with the pills is the fact that they're a lie and scam. However, your statement raises a question. You imply that taking the pills would be wrong if they worked because they "alter the body." By this logic, would eating certain diets, taking supplements, and exercising for the purpose of gaining muscle, losing weight, or toning one's body also be mortal sins? After all, these would "alter our bodies," too. As I've said, my main issue with the pills is the fact that they're a lie and scam. However, your statement raises a question. IcePrincessKRS
CF, we have brought up the "created in His image and likeness" argument already, Is that the only "proof" you have? You can't tell someone they are sinning when you don't even know what they are doing. Socrates isn't using those ridiculous pills, he just said the reasons why he sees it could be wrong or sinful. If you have better reasons than he does than instead of saying "you're sinning because you don't listen to me" maybe you should say "its a sin because of X Y and Z" and SHOW him why its sinful. You are entitled to your own opinion, but that NOT mean they coincide with the Magisterium. Come up a specific document concerning this, and remember judgement of hearts resides with GOD
Paladin D
Catholic Fanatic, Most of us want to be obediant to the Holy Catholic Church, but one must becareful on how to interpret some of it's teachings. Catholics can misinterpret Church teaching, just as much as we can misinterpret Sacred Scripture, that's why it's safer to cite a more direct source if possible. We're not here to attack you, we're all faithful Catholics. We have to try our best to be humble towards one another.

OK, I have to call you out on this one. Your only substantive answer was a general one regarding the "image and likeness of God" and altering one's body. The question posed regarding the difference between this issue and other forms of body altering was legitimate. To pose such a bullying and demeaning response makes me wonder whether you actually have official backup for your position. Also, if you haven't done so already, please either fill out your profile or tell us a little about yourself in the "Introduce yourself" thread. It helps to know your educational and experience level.
