Tom Cruise And Scientology

Just reading their Golossary of terms: It's pretty goofy.

Clear: a highly desirable state for the individual, achieved through auditing, which was never attainable before Dianetics. A Clear is a person who no longer has his own reactive mind and therefore suffers none of the ill effects that the reactive mind can cause. The Clear has no engrams which, when restimulated, throw out the correctness of his computations by entering hidden and false data.

reactive mind: that part of the mind which works on a totally stimulus-response basis, which is not under a person’s volitional control, and which exerts force and the power of command over his awareness, purposes, thoughts, body and actions.

Umm . . . does that include breathing? If I'm clear am I free of the reactive mind control of breathing? Or do I begin to do volitional breathing?

Or what about my sense of touch. If I put my hand on something hot my "stimulus response basis" pulls my hand back right? Will I have complete control over this now . . . cool . . . someonepull a gun on Tom Cruise and see if he doesn't jump back . . .

engram: a recording made by the reactive mind when a person is “unconscious.” An engram is not a memory – it is a particular type of mental image picture which is a complete recording, down to the last accurate detail, of every perception present in a moment of partial or full “unconsciousness.”
Don't we have a word for this already?? Dream??

There is tons more wacky stuff, but heres a couple more

exteriorization: the state of the thetan being outside his body with or without full perception, but still able to control and handle the body. When a person goes exterior, he achieves a certainty that he is himself and not his body.

thetan: an immortal spiritual being; the human soul. The term soul is not used because it has developed so many other meanings from use in other religions and practices that it doesn’t describe precisely what was discovered in Scientology. We use the term thetan instead, from the Greek letter theta (), the traditional symbol for thought or life. One does not have a thetan, something one keeps somewhere apart from oneself; one is a thetan. The thetan is the person himself, not his body or his name or the physical universe, his mind or anything else. It is that which is aware of being aware; the identity which IS the individual.

Wait there is more:

Scientology: comes from the Latin scio, which means “know” and the Greek word logos, meaning “the word or outward form by which the inward thought is expressed and made known.” Thus, Scientology means knowing about knowing. Scientology is an applied religious philosophy developed by L. Ron Hubbard. It is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life.

For C-Mom . . .

Does Scientology recognize good and evil?

Yes, in Scientology, a very clear distinction is made between good and evil. Those actions which enhance survival on the majority of the eight aspects or dynamics of life are good, and those which destroy or deny these aspects of life are evil. Scientologists strive to make decisions that will enhance the majority of these dynamics of life.

Good may be defined as constructive. Evil may be defined as destructive.

Does Scientology believe man is sinful?

A fundamental tenet of Scientology is that man is basically good but has become “aberrated” (capable of erring or departing from rational thought or behavior) through spending many lifetimes in the physical universe and therefore commits harmful acts or sins. These acts further reduce his awareness and potential power as a spiritual being.

Through Scientology he can confront his actions, erase the ignorance and aberration which surrounds them, and come to know and experience truth again.

All religions seek truth. Freedom of the spirit is only to be found on the road to truth.

Sin is composed, according to Scientology, of lies and hidden actions and is therefore untruth.

The first dynamic, self, is the effort to survive as an individual, to be an individual and to fully express one’s individuality.

The second dynamic is creativity. Creativity is making things for the future and the second dynamic includes any creativity. The second dynamic contains the family unit and the rearing of children as well as anything that can be categorized as a family activity. It incidentally includes sex as a mechanism to compel future survival.

The third dynamic is the urge to survive as a member of a group. A company, a political party, a church or a social organization are all examples of the third dynamic.

The fourth dynamic is the urge for survival of man as a species. All of the races of man together constitute the fourth dynamic.

The fifth dynamic is the urge to survive for all life forms—animal or vegetable and anything directly and intimately motivated by life.

The sixth dynamic is the urge for survival of the physical universe and reflects the drive of the individual to enhance the survival of all matter, energy, space and time—the component parts of the physical universe.

The seventh dynamic is the urge toward existence as a spiritual being.

The eighth dynamic is the urge toward existence as infinity. This is also identified as the Supreme Being. Thus, this dynamic can be called the infinity, or God, dynamic.

The best part is when you find out that your thetan started as a persecuted alien lifeform landed on this planet and persued by other alien lifeforms, and that each human is infused with a thetan that they have to "clear" of past bad experience.

Check out the Way to Happiness (I refuse to post the website, it's insidious). What starts out as psychobabble (ie Dianetics) quickly turns into just plain psycho. Or is that Psychlos?....

This is the fastest growing religious sect in the world right now sadly.

Oh, you're telling me! A large nearby city called Clearwater is like one of the top Scientology "Christian" headquarters! Churches, book stores, services...it's not right, man... :(

That has to be the weirdest thing I've seen all day! The Japanese site has some pretty carp information, but the english segment takes the cake with those stupid quizzes. Gotta (not) love that flash intro saying stuff like "Where the honest prosper" and "Where there are no criminals!" and stuff. What the carp kind of belief is this? Pssh, even some cults seem more sensible than this. At least most of them don't blaspheme MY religious symbol. What the carp kinda cult is this?

On the website has anyone found the link where they tell you about shaving your head and genital mutilation? I really want to be ''purified'' so I can have a blank emotionless expression like John Travolta.

Actually Clearwater IS the top spot for Scientology. The place in Hollywood is just big because it's where the stars go, but Clearwater is THE headquarters.

You should check and see what (if anything) your Diocese does about them... might be fun...
