jasJis
On the global warming thing. I've read a large number of scientists that have no doubt that fluctuations in our climate are part of the natural cycle. Also, the amount of ozone depleting gasses and other pollutants that come from 1 volcano greatly exceed everyting the US puts out by several magnitudes. In other words, what humanity does is a drop in the bucket and makes little difference. The reality is that it's polticized for other people's purposes to get the industrialized countries to help the non-idustrialized countries, to be generally against powerful companies, etc. They base it on real science, but don't give the whole story. Is it really worth all the time and effort and resources if it would make a 1% difference on the amount of NATURAL climate change. Or maybe the money, science, and resources be used to advance medical knowledge, improve agriculture, find alternative fuels instead of spending trillions to clean some chemicals out of emissions that don't have the impact people believe. It's like making everyone wear inflatible suits when riding in cars instead of designing seatbelts or better cars.
Honour
How could global warming be the same as going into another ice age? Isn't that..... backwards?
Haven't you seen The Day After Tommorrow, Global warming melts the ice caps, ice cools the temp in the Atlatic, cold water disrupts the flow of the North Atlatic Current, thus stopping the way warm air is brought up from the equator. We all freeze, the closer you are to the equator, the better for you! Personally I think its all pretty natural, with the cycles and all, I heard one volcaoe errupting damages the atmoshpere more in day than what we've done since we started. That said I do think it should be regulated and we should be carefull, I just don't think we are all going to die from an ice age anytime soon! reelguy227
Well ,all of these arguments are more comforting than what I saw on T.V. ,It was just kind of creepy and all ,not that I fully believe in it . I was just thinking that if this many scientists believe in it ,than it has to be true ,but maybe not. Honour or someone, can you site the source of where it says that volcanoes release a lot of polution please, thanks. God Bless Ricky

Dreamweaver
I highly recommend the book State of Fear by Michael Crichton. It deals with global warming and ecoterrorism from a very interesting stand point. It raises many questions and doubts about the idea of global warming. Includes bunches of scientific references also.

ReinnieR
How could global warming be the same as going into another ice age? Isn't that..... backwards? I don't think we would all die in mass extinction as a result of global warming or other ecological problems on a short-term, dramatic scale, but I think if we are not careful we will make the world a very, very miserable and uncomfortable place to live in compared to what we have now -- death and disease could become as commonplace as medieval times. We would not nearly enjoy some of the same creature comforts we once did, either. We already pollute ourselves and give ourselves cancer with all kinds of man-made chemicals and other inhospitable things.
yeah i think the same thing. Global Warming = melting the ice of north and south pole = sea level rises causing flood. but isn't it in the book of genisis when god said he woudn't end the world this way so here's what i say all creatures of the planet big or small chinese, filipino or american doesn't matter we all should stop farting and stop global warming!!!!!
