Paladin D
Some CD-ROM computer games contain music mp3s in them. For example, my copy of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast game has a folder with music from all the levels and maps in the single player and multiplayer maps. Would it be a sin to send some of these music files to friends? If they didn't own JKII that is? Edited November 16, 2003 by Paladin D
foundsheep
I believe file sharing is stealing. what if someone put the phatmass cd for free somewhere, then dust wouldnt generate cash flow for his projects. When one buys a cd at the store, you have purchased it for your own use.
_bc
I think the basic conclusion has to be that we can't share copyrighted stuff, and that you can basically use what you bought for yourself, but not give it to others unless you delete it from your own collection. If you don't know if we're allowed to share something, I guess we have to assume we can't unless the author himself has made it available in such a way. Laws tend to favour big, wealthy and greedy bas***ds like the RIAA. So the answer to your question is probably no. I hate it, but I'll have to give up my movie collection. Paladin D
I can see how sharing music and video and such is wrong. Just was double checking if "in-game" music sharing was wrong too lol. I had to give up my movie collection, most of my music collection, and some software. :)
Aloysius
wait a sec, i thought sharing it wit like a friend is alright. but what i like to term "Commercial Non-Profit Sale" is not. that's when you make it available to the general public like on Kazaa or something. Cuz that'z like opening a store with a big sign that says "Free Music" out front and then a bunch of burned CD's inside. however, just lending your friend a copy of your music is not illegal. at least that's what i think.. am i wrong? Read the small print on your CD's: "Unauthorized lending... strictly prohibited..."
