Maccabeus
Few months ago, I experienced something that terrified me... At midnight, I was sitting on my bed saying my daily Rosary, with my eyes closed, meditating on the first Luminous mistery "Baptism of Jesus" than at that moment I heard some of the books falling from my book shelf that was 2 meters in front of me. Than as my heart pounded I opened my eyes, and saw a shaddow of my book shelf and it appeared to be all ok, than I got up to turn on my light, and when I did, nothing was on the floor. So I got terrified of what I did not see. Than few weeks after that, I was going camping with my Girlfriend, and as we we're on our way I stopped at my mom's store to get snacks etc. (windows up, locked the car, beeped twice/ "everythings cool) Than after a half an hour of talking with my mom got the snacks etc, I unlocked my car, we get in, and my Rosary is on the floor, broken in 3 peices, (The Holy Cross) is by itself and the second break is (our father/ 3 Hail Marys/ Our Father) and the rest hung under my mirror. Edited July 6, 2005 by Maccabeus

philothea
I have absolutely had a few "unexplained experiences," but they are not for the faint of heart.
Oooh, do share! I haven't had any scary unexplained experiences. Though, as I was reading this topic originally (I had loaded up the page, but then the phone line was needed so I wasn't connected anymore -- which is why I didn't respond!) a kind of weird thing was happening. I usually have a small browser window open showing savior.org's monstrance cam. I use the low-bandwith feed, which updates every 10-20 seconds. Even though I had no connection, the image kept updating! It was really weird!! Probably just a java error, but it was very strange.

Krush2k2
I was praying real hard once at night then in the room came an overwhelming feeling of God, and I was frozen and couldnt move like I was trapped in my bed, I tried moving my arms and legs but couldnt they were completely unmovable. This happened 3 nights in a row.
WillT
Oooh, do share!
Well, since somebody asked. My first experience happened in 2003 when I still lived in Starkville, MS. Several good friends of mine attended First United Methodist Church of Starkville and one worked late night shifts at the TV studio owned by the church. He, along with a couple of others, always insisted that the building was haunted. Needless to say i didn't believe them. So one night I and a few friends accompanied him on his shift. The most common phenomenon that was reported had always been footsteps when it was absolutely certain that no one else was in the building. (My friend had the only key when he worked late and there is no way in or out except to walk right by the studio.) So after 30 minutes of nothing happening, we were about to leave when my friend told us to listen. We could clearly hear footsteps in the hall area where the sunday school classes were held. Naturally, I wanted to investigate so I and the only other four people who were brave enough to follow headed into the area that the footsteps came from. We were at the very end of an aprox. 300 ft. completely dark hallway about to exit to the outside. I was in the back of the group and was just about to sweep the hall one last time with my flashlight when I and one other friend clearly heard footsteps. Needless to say we were slightly frightened. All of us took off towards the door, but before I ran I looked back and could clearly see the silohuette of a head (not profile, looking directly at us) and the right upper torso of a man. The rest of him was in shadows, but there was a gleam of light roughly waist high as if it were a large belt-buckle reflecting the light from outside. Once we got outside we walked around the church to get back to where the TV studio was and noticed that one of the classrooms that lined the hall was lit up. There were definatlely, without a doubt NO LIGHTS ON ONLY SECONDS EARLIER. We reported all of this to the other guys who were too afraid to come, and actually convinced them to come with us to explore the area even more. After that initial expereince, nothin g else out of the ordinary happened except for the room that we clearly saw lit up WAS DARK! We even had two people stay in the hall at the room, and two people go outside to make sure that there were no opticall illusions that would cause the room to appear lit up from the out side when it really wasn't. The room was clearly dark this time. After all of this, we decided to to research the history of the building. As it turns out it was built in 1850 I believe, and was used as a hospital during the Civil War. That was the only thing that had ever happened there that could be explained as tragic. After thinking about it it does fit with the large belt-buckle I saw. For anyone who has seen photographs of Civil War soldiers that is one of the most easily recognizable pieces of their uniform. That was the only thing we ever figured out about what exactly might have scared us that night. OK, on the the stuff that's actually scary. This one is at least more scarry to me because it's personal. Also, be warned that there is a somewhat graphic physical description as well. Nothing you haven't heard in high school anatomy, but still. Also, I know that many of you will think that this story is a load of carp. I know I will never change your mind, but let me just say that I would have absolutely no trouble swearing on the Bible that every word of this story was experienced by me and that I have recounted it to the absolute best of my ability. This happened just last summer, almost a year ago to be exact. So everything started with a strange dream that I had several nights in a row. I've never been one to try and interpret dreams nor have I ever beleived that every dream has meaning, but for some reason I fealt I knew exactly what this dream meant. In the dream I was in a cave. It was totally dark and very cold and damp. Right strait in front of me however was a large cage whose barred walls reached to the almost top of the cave. There was another barred wall serving as the top of the cage. the inside was strangely illuminated with red light, but the light didn't go outside of the cage and only illumated what was in the cage. That is where the terror really resided. I know it sounds completely cliche, but inside was a large "man" with a goatee. Now, a little bit of backstory is needed here. At this time I was just starting to really get into my faith, and trying to actually live it out. During this, however, I had been struggling with a certain sin that I just could not get over. The sin involved an addiction to pornography, and we all know what males do after having viewed porn. I don't think I need to go into detail. So in this dream, I somehow "knew" that what was in the cage was a demon. I wasn't sure whether it was only symbolic of this sin that I was struggling with, or if it were an actual demon who was tempting me, but I knew for sure that it was one or the other. I would get my answer soon enough. The scarriest thing about this demon was that I knew that if it got out of the cage that it would kill me. I knew it would devour me whole or rip me to shreds. No question. It had the perfect teeth for the job. I was up close and personal with those teeth every night for several nights. Every time I had that dream I woke up as soon as it ended. Nothing ever happened, and all in all it was a short dream, however scarry it may have been. One night , however, I woke up to my sheets being literally ripped off of me. I did not open my eyes. Something told me that was a definately bad idea. Another strage thing is that I generally sleep either in the fetal position or on my stomach. My mom tells me I've slept that way ever since I was a baby. This time, I was flat on my back, arms outstretched with my forarms and upper arms at right angles (picture the "don't shoot" position for a visual), so I tried to roll over. Bad idea. I was pinned to the bed and as I regained more consciousness I could feal hands on my wrists holding my arms still. Now, I have a black belt in Taekwondo and have learned well what it feels like to have my wrists grabbed like that. One of the most memorable experiences of this was having a 7 foot 300 and something pound policeman peform the exact same move on me when I was about 14 years old and 150 pounds at most. This guy was all muscle. I told you that to tell you this. Whatever had my wrists that night had a grip that was infinately stronger. I couldn't even rotate my hand. Nothing. On top of this, there was an equally strong force holding my legs in place. I could feel the "hands" there too. There was also the distinct feeling of either long fingernails or claws digging into my skin in both locations. Also, it felt as if someone were squeezing my testicles. I'm sorry if that isn't appropriate for the phorum, but I'm just trying to be exact.I knew that the demon from my dream had me. I also knew that God had been warning me all along, and still consider this a great blessing. I had committed that sin three times that day. My first instinct was to start praying Hail Marys. Can you tell I'm a cradle Catholic? So anyway, every time I got to the word "Jesus" the demons grip lossened momentarily untill eventually it left as quickly as it had attacked. I was so exhausted that I just rolled over and went to sleep. Several strange things were noticable when I woke up the next morning. First, my Rosary was in my hand. I never sleep with my Rosary and clearly remember putting it on my nightstand (which is actually a good 6 feet from my bed) the night before. There is ABSOLUTELY no way I could have grabbed it at any point during the night. It was also disassembled. The metal loops had literally been stretched, opened, and taken apart. For anyone who carries thier Rosary in thier pocket, you've probably experienced the same phenomenon except that you have a rational explanation. Also, my sheets were not only off the bed, but up against the wall, again about 6 feet from the foot of my bed. Even with Taekwondo I couldn't have kicked a light sheet that far across a room. And finally, the most disturbing thing. I had literal scratches on my wrists and ankles in the exact place I had felt the "claws" the night before. I wish now that I would have taken pictures, but I was more than a little shaken up and didn't even think about it. So that was my increadably unnerving night. Some other things happened when we first moved into our hose, but this post is already log enough. I'll save those stories for another time if anyone is interested. MissScripture
Well, I don't know that this is really religious like most of the rest of the stories, although I think this guy might have been my guardian angel or soemthing. Anyway, here's the story. I was in 6th grade and my family was on a trip to the Grand Canyon. We were hiking down into it one morning, just to the first rest stop and then back out. The hike down was easy enough, being it was down hill, and still pretty cool since the sun wasn't very high yet. But on the way back out, it got harder. My mother and I feel behind and my father was way ahead with all our water bottles in a backpack (for future referance, keep you water bottle WITH you when you hike). My mother and I sat down to rest and there was an older man who sat down next to us. We talked for a few minutes and I am positive that my mother never said my name, but finally she said, "We'd better get going, now." She stood up and started walking, not realizing I wasn't behind her. I have never been very athletic, and with no water I couldn't summon the strenght to get back up and walk the rest of the way. She was almost around the next bend, when the guy finally looks at me and says, "Sarah, you'd better go catch up with your momma." And I was able to! I suddenly felt so much stronger and better. We eventually even caught up with my father. It was a strange experience to say the least.
Old_Joe
I've never had anything happen to me personally, but I know people who have. My mom had a dream that I posted earlier but I'll repeat it. She walking across the street from her apartment to her workplace. It was foggy. She couldn't see more than a few feet in front of her. She starts to walk across and sees a figure walking towards her from the other side of the street. As they cross paths, she recognizes the figure as one of her college professors of whom she was a favorite student. As they passed he said something like, "goodbye" or "Farewell." She turned around to give a response, but saw nothing. About a month later, she found out that he had died that same night.

Thurifer
WillT, I believe it. It's almost like God allows these things to wake us up. Padre Pio, and the Cure of Ars (sp?) both were subject to Demonic Attacks.
Old_Joe
Joseph of Cupertino was also subject to demonic attacks. Once when he was praying before the altar, a "dark figure" walked into the church. As it walked towards the altar, the candles in the church went out as it walked by them. The figure and Joseph wrestled in the church. It seemed like the figure was going to win when, a monk presumably St. Francis came in and relighted all of the candles. When the last candle had been relit the figure disappeared. Ash Wednesday
I've got a lot of cool stories, one is a ghost story. I even have pictures but I won't post until Halloween. (I need to get the pictures from the archives where I work, too.) Last year I was thinking of the time a few years ago, my mom, now deceased, sent me red and white carnations for my birthday. It was very special to me because I was living away from home where most of my family and friends were and I felt a bit lonely. So last year one day I went to adoration, this was right around my birthday and I was feeling pretty bummed since this was my first birthday without her. In the adoration room next to the monstrance was a vase of red and white carnations. The flower lady at church didn't know where they came from, either. Someone just came in during the week I suppose, and put them there.
