zabbazooey
I was wondering, the CMRI churches (http://www.cmri.org) have invited me to attend one of their services. They describe themselves as "Traditional Catholics" and they say Mass in Latin. The problem is, I really want to see a mass in Latin, and this is the only church where I could go that is nearby. They are Sedevacantists, and I strongly disagree with their beliefs. The pope is the successor of Peter, and I don't care if you like him or not, he IS the head of the Roman Catholic Church. He's infallible. Anyways, I asked if it would be a sin to receive communion there, and they said no because they are Catholic, as long as I fast 3 hours before and receive the sacrament of Reconciliation. I was wondering, is it a sin to go to the CMRI church, they say they are Catholic, and I really want to see a service entirely in Latin Thanks for clearing up the confusion! Carson Weber
No, it isn't a sin to attend - just as much as it isn't a sin to attend a Protestant worship service. But it is a sin to receive communion there because it is prohibited by the Church's Code of Canon Law.
