Mary *sigh*

Mary, Queen of Our Hearts, we exalt thee. (In the middle ages people used to say this hundreds of times and genuflect each time on her name.)

I am completely in love with this woman.

 Mary

That's all.

Mary, for those who do not acknowledge your role in our Salvation,

Mary, for those who do not recognize you as Queen of Heaven and Earth,

Mary, for those who do not call you Blessed among women,

Mary, for those who do not know you as their own dear, sweet Mother,

Pray for us all!

Mary, most powerful Virgin,

You are the mighty and glorious Protector of the Church.

You are the marvelous Help of Christians.

You are awe-inspiring as an army in battle array.

You have destroyed heresy in the world.

In the midst of our anguish, our struggle and distress

defend us from the power of the enemy,

and at the hour of our death receive our soul into heaven.

- Prayer to Mary Help of Christians, St. John Bosco

"Mary is beautiful in herself as the moon, radiates her brilliance as the sun; but against "the enemy" she is formidable; terrible as an army arrayed for war. As we rejoice and exalt her today, God knows how we would like to forget the difficulties of the times in which we live . . . There is the "enemy" even at the very doors of the Church, threatening souls. And behold, another aspect of Mary: her power in combat . . . Mary, sinless, has crushed the head of the corrupting serpent. When Mary approaches, the demon flees -- just as darkness dissipates when the sun rises. When Mary is present, Satan is absent; where the sun shines, there is no darkness." - Pope Pius XII

"The modern woman will note with pleasant surprise that Mary of Nazareth, while completely devoted to the will of God, was far from being a timidly submissive woman or one whose piety was repellent to others; on the contrary, she was a woman who did not hesitate to proclaim that God vindicates the humble and the oppressed, and removes the powerful people of the world from their privileged positions." - Marialis Cultus #37, Pope Paul VI

Don't thank me. All credit goes to Pope Paul VI, Pope Pius XII, and St. John Bosco. I only posted the quotes. :) On the other hand, I have no doubt that all three would say: "Don't thank me. All credit goes to God. I only picked up the pen. :)"

Ya, ya. Thank the Spirit that guided the pen.

The Holy Spirit would naturally praise the Blessed Virgin…

Yup. Humility is a great thing, and God has it more than any human being (why else would He become man and die on a Cross?). Unfortunately, humility can also mean a lot of saying: "No no, thank YOU." It reminds me of those chipmunks on that one cartoon when I was a kid. I don't know if anyone remembers them, they were either chipmunks or squirrels, and they were really polite. I think they were on Looney Tunes sometimes. They'd stand there and say: "Thank you." "No no, thank YOU." "Noooo, thank YOOOOOU."

Now I realize that the chipmunks must have been Catholic.

What a beautiful thread!! Hyper, thank you so much for starting it, and everyone else thank you for your contributions. I'm sure our Blessed Mother is smiling down on you all right now!!! :D

Let us remember to beg Mary each day to help us recognize the mystery of the Incarnation in our presence, to recognize the Word Made Flesh in our midst. And let us thank her for saying "Yes" b/c our yes is only possible because of hers.

The Angelus

The Angel of the Lord dcclared unto Mary

and she conceived by the the Holy Spirit

Hail Mary....

Behold the handmaid of the Lord

Be it done unto me according to your word

Hail Mary....

And the Word was made flesh

And dwells among us.

Hail Mary....

Pray for us O Holy Mother of God

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray,

Pour forth, we beseech you O Lord, your grace into our hearts that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection throught the same Christ our Lord. Amen

Veni Sancte Spiritus

Veni per Mariam

(Come Holy Spirit; Come through Mary)

Mary, Cause of our Joy, Pray for us :D
