mulls
ok, if your long-term memory is in check, you will remember that i talked a lot of smack over the summer about doing some things for Christ here on campus this semester. well, i finally got inspired. here's some background.... there are many christian organziations on campus, but unfortunately none of them make much of a public impact for Christ, although they all claim to be 'evangelical' in nature. they basically keep to themselves and preach to the choir. well, myself and a few of my friends got sick of this, and finally decided to get off of our own lazy butts and make something happen. the deal is this: THIS COMING TUESDAY, we are bringing in an evangelist who has taught some of our bible studies in the past to speak to the campus. he has a great testimony- born and raised Jewish, came to know Christ, and is now in the process of becoming a pastor. he's in his mid-30's and relates to young people very well, and is very sharp. he is the best person we could think of to speak to a college campus. we have made hundreds of flyers. we are telling all of our friends. we went to every christian group on campus and made announcements about it. my great sociology of religion professor has made this an extra credit assignment to both of his classes (about 250 students total). we are taking out a $280, half-page advertisement in the school paper on the day of the event. the word is being spread. TUESDAY NIGHT.....we are roughly estimating that AT LEAST 75 (POSSIBLY UP TO 200)UNBELIEVING UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT STUDENTS are going to show up and hear the message of Jesus Christ. the room we reserved is going to be filled to capacity. we told every christian we know that they will not be allowed in the room unless they bring a non-christian friend. this is not for us...its for non-christians. i myself am bringing (hopefully) about a dozen people that i have been witnessing to. we have mobilized the christians on this campus. the place is in a frenzy. God is working in all of our lives. I have never, ever, ever looked foward to something as much as I am this Tuesday. Think about it....anywhere from 75 to 200 skeptical college students hearing the direct message of Jesus Christ...with dozens and dozens of christians in the same room at the same time, all silently praying for God to pierce hearts and minds with His Word. my friends....we disagree on many subjects....we've had many arguments....and no, we don't plan on turning any of these people Catholic. THE IMPORTANT THING is that these students realize who and what Jesus is...and we'll let God take over from there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRAY FOR US. pray for all of the christians to be good witnesses to their friends and to tell as many people about this event as possible pray for Ben, our speaker, that he is spending the week drawing nearer and nearer to the Lord, that he is in good health, that he makes the drive to campus safely, and that he submits to and allows the Lord to work wonders through him. pray for the students who will hear this message for the first time....that they will be open and receptive to the Lord's message of love and salvation. I sincerely urge you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, to pray for us all here at Uconn. I expect God to work a miracle on Tuesday night. At the very least, seeds will be planted that will have the opportunity to be watered until the end of the summer, and beyond. Please be a part of this. Share in this opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, for the Lord. Thank you in advance. Katholikos
I'll pray for you to come home to the Truth. I can't pray for you to lead others astray. Noble effort, but misplaced faith. You can't offer anything through your organization but another interpretation of the Bible, and as I've told you many times, the Catholic Church is four centuries older than the Bible. The Bible was made by the Church. No Church, no Bible. Sorry, Mulls. History cannot be denied. It can be ignored (which is what you are doing), but not denied. God bless and Mary keep, Likos

mulls
this is exactly where i didn't want this thread to go. People, this is about exposing lives to CHRIST. i've asked this question many times before and have always received roundabout answers... is it better for me to keep to myself and disobey Jesus' command of preaching the gospel to others and hope that somehow all these people that i ignore become catholic on their own? or should i expose them to the light and love of Christ (leading them astray as you put it)? unbelievable. hyperdulia again
you aren't preaching the gospel to them. you are preaching a heretical pseudo-gospel.
cmotherofpirl
If you tell people that there is a God who loves you and sent his Son to die for you, and then tell them all their options freely and without bias you are doing what Jesus asked you to. Put out information for Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants without distinction.
hyperdulia again
no you're not. if you're not leading people into the church jesus founded you aren't leading them to jesus, but leading them to a lie about jesus.
