Announcing my first ever legitimate web endeavour: Chesterbel Enterprises.
http://www.chesterbel.net
It's all about helping people start their own micro-enterprises and trade inexpensively with other small businesses/micro-enterprises.

Okay, so I'm designin this website completely without any free graphics or copyright infingements. I need feedback, how does the web design look? can you understand what the thing is by what the content?

It's not too bad.
The formatting of the text is a little strange though, perhaps you should just allign all the text to the left.

Thanks. You're probably right... but I also don't like the way it looks with that top line alligned to the left. I'll have to figure out a better way to do that.

I'm also wondering how good of a job this site does of explaining what it is all about.

oh, and this is a cool thing I want to test... if anyone wants to make my day:

send an email to anything@chesterbel.net like, anything at all, fill in your random word here at chesterbel.net. APPARENTLY... I'll receive it! So I have just apparently gained infinite email accounts

You mean the titles/headings?
Another thing is the section links could be in a darker colour (not just after you've clicked them), since you can hardly see them.

alright, I'm doin the darker colo[u]r thing

wait, you don't like the title alligned to the right? I thought that worked... maybe not. I thought you meant the first line of the body on the home page "nearly the entire world is politically free..."

You might want to check out the legality of this venture - sounds like you're doing financial planning, and you have to have a license to do that.

I was asking if you were refering to the titles/headings when you said "I also don't like the way it looks with that top line alligned to the left".

nah I was referring to the top line

well.. I'm not sure about financial planning so much, I'm providing a marketplace where people can trade using these cheap "credits" that are valuable among everyone trading in the marketplace. I'm not really doing the planning... I'm giving them a venue to trade and supply with other small businesses. is that considered financial planning?

I think the site does a great job explaining what it's about, but I don't like the colors.

They're too dark and right beside each other.

Hate to be harsh on you, but visually it looks very amateurish, and does little to attract a viewer's interest (speaking from a purely visual perspective). I'm not an expert, but I've had some web-design training/experience.

The dark colors and font size/weight combine to make the text hard to read. The headings need to visually "jump out" and grap the readers attention. And all the extra black space around the margins, especially on the top is not good, as less of the content appears on the page when first opened. Unless you are planning on filling this top margin with content, I'd recommend eliminating it.
That's my brutally honest assessment. Find someone with web design experience to help you.

(I could design a page, but I'm not experienced with graphics.)

That's exactly what I wanted actually, socrates... some good ol' fashioned harsh criticism

I'm not sure I understand all of it though. what browser do you use? I see no black space around margins. I don't understand why content wouldn't load fast, there are no graphics yet except for the background image and one pic on the member site. is there no background image loading on yours? it should be blue with a green streek over the top.

anyway, every graphic has to be hand-made so it's not completely done makin stuff jump out.

Yeah, the different browsers read code different.

You misunderstood what I said about the content. Nothing was slow downloading - I was just referring to all the empty black space at the top of the page.
