I don't want to watch any of the movies either.
So you don't like what you've never tried? ReinnieR
i don't know about LOTR being carp LOTR is about the book of revelation i'd say watch it again and read the book revelation and see the similarity Edited June 15, 2005 by ReinnieR
luciana
..I've only read the first book, but I'm willing to put money on that it is Ron Weasley.
i've only read the first, but have watched the two movies. I'd guess Ron,too, or Hagrid. luciana
most of us don't think it is poorly written. How could anyone say that lotr was poorly written, that might prompt a personal attack (which is against the forum rules that don't exist )! LOTR is like the best ever. Priests could use it for like every homily in the world (there is a lot of Christian stuff in it and the rest is good advice regardless) Hehe, as you can tell i might be partial ....
Agree!!!! LOTR and Tokien= So well written, and full of Catholic undertones.
marielapin
Nope, it's Hagrid. He's half-giant and half-wizard. I also have my theory that Neville will defeat Voldemort.
I'm with you on both counts. I think Neville has some huge role to play. And I've been wondering about Hagrid's role as well - I think he is the half blood prince. Jared and I have been rereading all the books in preparation for the next one, which we will read at the same time. I do admit, JK Rowling's editors don't do a great job. I've found many a grammatical error and I'm no English teacher. I am also a bit irked over errors that have to do with the plot. Could there be an outside chance that Dumbledore is the halfblood prince? Do we even know anything about his parentage?

I suppose there could be a change that it's him, but I would think it would be Hagrid, knowing J.K. Rowling's style...Dumbledore's already powerful and to say he's a prince too seems like making one character too much...she likes to share things among her characters. Here's the thing with Neville. Book 1: 1. Neville's family can't afford to buy him a wand, so he uses his grandfather's. 2. Mr. Ollivander says that a wizard's magic will never be as good with another person's wand as with his own. Books 1-5: Neville's magic smells of elderberries. Book 5: 1. Neville's wand breaks near the end, which will force him to get one of his own. 2. The prophecy relates either to Harry or Neville. 3. If it's not Harry, then he would go insane for touching the orb. Book 5 never mentions his going insane, so it's assumed that he didn't. However, it never said he would go insane immediately. My conclusion: Neville has to buy a wand and with his own wand he becomes very powerful. Harry slowly goes insane.
God Conquers
Soooo.... The main character (after which the entire series of CHILDREN'S BOOKS is named after) goes INSANE, and a rather minor character in the first 5 books in the final 2 books becomes the hero... I dunno. It's possible... but is it plausible?
Sarah_JC
Harry Potter won't die until the last book. If he dies. I skimmed the 5th book. Who says Harry's not already insane? He seems mentally ill to me. He has main-character-itis, where sometimes he does things for no reason other than it's needed for the plot. "Harry, why are you wandering around alone when there are people out to kill you?" "Ron, if I'm not alone, how can I have a personal revelation about myself that endears me to the readers and foreshadows the antagonist next move?" "Oh. Right then. See you in class tomorrow." My money's on Neville. He's survived things that other minor characters wouldn't have. He's described a lot. He's always around. He's likable. As long as he doesn't help Harry in book 6 he'll survive. But if he's helpful to Harry he'll have to be killed off. Man, is it just me or are the books getting WORSE? Even though these are children's books, they have gotten increasingly dark as the series progresses. And even if Harry did go insane, Neville might be able to save him with his discovered power. I'm totally with Micah on this.

Keep people's eyes on Harry and you can more easily slip Neville into place. I think it's extremely plausible.

God Conquers
It don't make no sense! I think you'd lose your audience. I agree there'll be some kind of carazy twist. But I think Harry will remain the main protagonist.
