jezic
To me this sounds a lot like those political tv shows where people take sides and then begin nitpicking about the smallest details. What happened to personal Charity, self-sacrifice, and cool heads? Why are many threads frequently missing the general intent of the poster? Why is trolling allowed? just questions and concerns ..... Q the Ninja
I'm sorry, I have a good feeling that I'm one of the people that you are talking about. I should hope I've not offended anyone, but if I have (I bet I have) I am willing to discuss it, and if not, I still apologize.
Cam42
While I am not innocent either, I have trolled LittleLes, I do it only to try and keep him on track.... For that I apologize....I will try to be more prudent in regard to him....although it is hard not to respond when he trolls us.
philothea
I always stop reading a thread when Little Les starts to post in it. It degrades into pointless, boring, ntipicking. Hey, maybe some of you might want to try out that "ignore" feature the upgrade has provided? OTOH, there has been plenty of nastiness even without Les. jezic
you are right that it is hard to accept it, but did not Christ do the same when we "trolled" him. I wasn't referring to anyone specifically but the state of the entire board. Now i honestly don't even bother looking at the threads. I wish i could, but again the debates go in circles without point or method. Maybe we need the mods to go nuts and lock down a bunch of stuff to get the board back on track or something ...... but something does need to be done. What would someone coming to phatmass and thinking about Catholicism think when they saw this? I wouldn't be impressed.

If people say a brief little prayer before logging into phatmass, offering their time to the Lord and asking Him to sanctify it, things would probably grow more charitable. Don John of Austria
Wow I just have such a differant view, if anything I think the Debate board is so much more regulated and though poicing than it used to be, I wonder how many of those asking for more Charity have ever really had a discussion like this in person---its the Debate board guys not the " lets all hug and sing cum-bi- ya board. real things are discussed here and sometimes people get snarky or even hurtful, is that good, no, is it essential to have that freedom to have a real debate-- yes. Brother Adam
blocks out the persons posts. Tempting, but I don't want to use it.
Q the Ninja
I personally think that it's rare that I feel even offended by anyone here. I just remember we're not drinking coffee, but are just too lazy to keep typing to post with perfect charity. If you debate forever, it's hard to keep typing and some things become shorter and sometimes it can look uncharitable to people on the outside... kateri05
you can block people's posts? a) how? and 2) wouldn't that just make debate threads, esp, confusing? i agree with Q, sometimes thing come across as uncharitable online, esp people who have brusque styles of writing. i think the solution is to 1) make a personal point to be as chartiable as possible and b) give others the benefit of the doubt on the side of charity because it is simply SO easy to misinterpret things online like this.
