Theologian in Training
Ash, I would be quite surprised if you were doing well. You shouldn't be doing well, you lost someone you loved and cared out about deeply. Why apologize and feel bad for that? She may be in a better place right now, and may even be praying for you if she is already with the saints and angels, yet that doesn't change how you feel right now, right here, without her. It is quite normal to have all these thoughts, to get angry, upset, confused..it is all part of the process. You have to remember, you are trying to make sense of it all, and a lot of it you cannot make sense of because deep down it is a mystery that cannot be penetrated. I am actually inspired of how you see it as part of God's plan, though you don't completely understand that plan. Most people would readily turn their back on God. Yes, you have difficulties, but sometimes it is through those difficulties that we make sense of some really great things. As to converting and saving those that don't agree with the Church, yes, we should defend what we believe in, but if you are not able to mentally, don't strain yourself, be an example, pray for them, and don't overburden yourself. If you must say anything, keep it simple, and let the Holy Spirit guide you, He can do some pretty amazing things with a willing instrument. Know that you and your family are in my prayers, and I offered a rosary for your mother tonight. God Bless You
Good Friday
Ash, you have no idea how uncannily similar our situations are right now. You have my prayers, I hope you'll pray for me too. Don't feel guilty that you're not doing enough -- in time of grief, God does not expect anymore from us than being a witness to His love and offering up our suffering for souls, both things that you're already doing. Remember always that God knows our human inadequacies better than even we do, and He compensates for them with His grace, He forgives us for them, and He loves us unconditionally. Ash Wednesday
Thank you so much everyone. I'm doing better as I find ways to grieve and cope on my own and gain bits of wisdom on the way. If you want my mom's name, private message me and I will let you know her name. Thank you, and God Bless your hearts.
