Jake Huether
Not dumb at all Joyfull! Absolutly correct! And actually, GTC, believe it or not, it's quite the contrary. I had a very close priest, and like you I was so very emberassed to confess my stupid sins to him. Especially if I've already confessed the same sin a couple times! However, he continually told me how honored he was that I was actually confessing to him! I actually was an inspiration to him when I came to him in confession (even with the same sins). You see, as Joyful noted, Satan tries to make us feel embarassed or think that the priest is going to laugh at us or judge us. In reallity, the priest (and God above all) is so happy that we are confessing. Although we've sinned, if we confess that sin we have NOT failed at all! It's when we sin and are too embarassed to say sorry to God in the Sacrament of Confession that we fail.
nippy316
Ya know how Fr. J gives the cool penances? Like not the traditional ones? You call 10 rosaries a cool penance? I think that's pretty traditional to me. Actually, I think he dislikes me. maybe that's why. Justine
GodsThespianChic
You call 10 rosaries a cool penance? I think that's pretty traditional to me. Actually, I think he dislikes me. maybe that's why. Justine I never got anything like that. Like once, I got "Pray with your boyfriend before you 2 go out the next 2 times" and then "Just do a good deed for someone at this retreat" and Fr. Gary, last Sunday, gave me "Pray for someone here who is feeling broken". So those are totally not that bad. So it took you like 5 hours to do your penance?? nippy316
So it took you like 5 hours to do your penance?? Well I had to split it up. Needless to say, it definitely gave me a greater appreciation for the rosary. But I've learned my lesson: go to normal confession from 3-4 on Saturdays and go to Fr. Domeck (s/p??) who barely speaks English. Justine
Good Friday
I chose "our God died for us." I know that may sound like the typical Protestant answer but, if you think about it, the fact that our God died for us is the most wonderful thing about the Catholic Church, and it's what all the other wonderful things are based on. If Jesus hadn't died, then the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass wouldn't exist. It was after Jesus' death and resurrection that He gave the Apostles the power to forgive sins. It was after Jesus' ascension that the Holy Spirit was sent into the world, and without the Holy Spirit there could be no Pope and no Church. So without Jesus' death, there is no Pope. And without the Pope, and the Church, we would have no reason to be pro-life other than the natural law. And hey, if our God didn't die for us, what would we have to sing about? StColette
I would say the Eucharist of course another thing is having devotion to the Virgin Mary, sometimes I feel sorry for non-Catholics that don't have this devotion because they don't know what they are missing. Iacobus
Way too hard. I see commuion and confession and Christs death as tied into one big gift bag. Way too hard.
Gunga_ann
I love the Eucharist to death, and I am sorry I could only vote for one. I would of liked to vote for the Pope!

dlz7486
Transubstantiation, for sure. I love the Eucharist - it blows me away. It's the best darn part of the Mass! Intimacy with Christ rocks!
XIX
First of all, I'd put transubstantiation above any of the other sacraments, since it is The Most Blessed Sacrament. So that puts it ahead of confession (which is still awesome, do not get me wrong here.) Music is great, but if given a choice between songs and the Real Presense...give me the Real Presence. Especially since I have the impression that the songs in Protestant Churches are also great. Pro-life is awesome, but I'm sure I'd still be pro-life if I was some other religion. The Pope is the ony thing that, for me, comes close of Traunsubstantiation. The reason being, the Popes of the ages have built the Catholic Church, within that Church all of the Sacraments are made possible. If Peter had decided to go back fishing instead of following Jesus and being the Rock that is the foundation of the One True Faith, then who knows what would have happened to the Body of Christ? Our God didn't just die for Catholics, He died for the sins of all humanity. Remember, He still took on the sins of every unrepentant mortal sinner on that cross. So I wouldn't quite put that as a part of Catholicism. But I still say Transubstantiation.
