Joyful
The Eucharist is an incredible gift from God given to His church. I also love love love Confession.
GodsGrace
ok....I am probably one of the many that don't agree with confession. I mean I guess it's the feeling embarrasses that makes you forgiven by God, b/c if he sees that you know it's wrong & embarrass yourself by telling a priest, then he can forgive you. I don't agree with it b/c God knows when you're really sorry, & he knows what you've done. He knows that you know it's bad so if he can forgive you no matter what, who's to say I HAVE TO GO TO CONFESSION?? I don't know.....I like the pope, the Eucharist, pro-life, music....but the fact that He died for us...!
IcePrincessKRS
Oh my gosh, there's no way I can vote on this! lol There are WAY too many wonderful gifts and benefits to being a Catholic to try and pick just one.

Jake Huether
Okay, so I'm not under 20. But I wanted to write in respons to GodsGrace. I know you were just being sarcastic saying that it's the emberassment and all. But I wanted to clarify just why confession is necessary. You see, confession isn't in any way of benefit to God. Of course He knows that you are sorry. Confession was instituted for OUR benefit. You may think it is the same simply to be sorry in your heart. And on the sorry scale you may rank high, but being sorry for a sin (even doing penance for your sin) isn't enough for YOUR benefit. In order for your sorryness to be of any benefit it needs to be acompanied by admonishment and an understanding of how you might overcome your sin. What's more, a simple confession in your heart doesn't tell you for sure that it was good enought. There is not physical evidence that confirms for you that you were forgiven. As humans we NEED human interaction. The benefit of confession is that you get that interaction. The priest can advise you on things and give you helpful hints that you otherwise wouldn't get outside of confession. But most importantly (and God knew this when he gave the Sacrament) you have the Priest tell you, whith the Authority of God, that you are forgiven! There are many more benefits that are quite possibly unknown to me. But the fact that God instituted this particular Sacrament tells me that it is much more beneficial than simply saying I'm sorry in my heart. Father knows best, and even when we don't understand why, we can trust that He is correct.
GodsGrace
yea but it's not like we're going straight to hell if we don't confess our sins! right??...I mean tell me where it says that in the bible....(not that I've got great knowledge of the bible....but ya know) & what about fallen away catholics that accept God again & then die w/o going to confession...don't they go to heaven, b/c doesn't it say that if you accept me you're on your way..or something like that? littleflower+JMJ
we have to go to confession, its a gift from God that only priest can give....yeah, its good to know that God knows our hearts but Thats not the way God wants us to this sacrament...its one of the many beauties of the Holy Mother Church....and to deny that is to deny all the special graces and blessings that can ONLY come from the institution of reconciliation from the beloved priests and successors of St. Peter. read this....click this word -> Confession this explains it with scripture also.... but note this GodsGrace, all saints, and popes, would always fear of having that stain of sin on them...thus, they always went to confession, everyday!! not because they were awful sinners but because they knew that they could not be able to go to heaven without that sacrament...read about the saints, their bios and you will note on ALL the saints, many blessed with seeing the Blessed Mother and countless miracles all went to confession frequently....see confession is where we account for our sins, confess them and recieve the graces, blessings and absolvemation (sp?) of our sins, that can ONLY be given through an ordain priest, we can confess in our hearts but we will be DEPRIVING our selves of what is needed, God's eteranl and endless Graces, that we cannot GIVE ourselves...only those that God has granted them can...not us..we are not successor of St. Peter.... yes, you could go to hell (because your putting yourself and your eternal salvation in danger) for not going to confession because you never confess them when God had His Heart full of Mercy and Love and Forgiveness OPen through the sacrament of confession....we will all pay for our sins and will be judge, but it is up to us in every single day God grants us to seek him in this very special sacrament to ask for forgiveness, for when we die, it will be too late.... with the saints that have gone before us and knowing all the special gifts reconcilation has who would want to turn them away? God's Love and mercy is alive and flowing in those sacraments, we do not have to be "alone", God says He will never leave us orphan and this is oneof the ways.... Confession through a priest is hard, when my mom taught ccd one girl said, i hate confessing because the priest makes me cry becuase of all that i have done....my mom answered, "whats better crying now and getting forgiving? or never going to confession and going to hell because you never went to confession to confess your sins?" see the picture? another example, are you ever around the dying? my aunt is (shes a nurse) and she see it first hand, ppl who are catholics on their deathbeds who haven't gone to confession in 30 something years, crying, begging, seeking to have the sacrament of confession given to them....on their deathbed before their final breath....once giving their confession from a priest arriving just in time, my aunt says they are peaceful, smiling, ready to meet Jesus and thankful of this gift they were able to partake in while God's forgiveness was still for them to reach...now why would this be so, ppl worried, sick, not ready to meet Jesus when their dying, without recieveing the sacrament of Reconcilation? because it is only thru this that we can achieve that readiness...sin separates us from God, confession strikes that barrier down so that we will never be apart. it may seem like, "well, we don't really have to really?" but our souls do, just like you have to drink clean water, take a shower each day to keep from getting sick and dirty and eat to stay healthy, your soul is the SaMe way! it must get its cleaning to forever be pure..and confession does just that....and its through confession that we'll be able to recieve all the graces, blessings, and gifts in His endless fountain of Mercy and forgiveness....called the Sacrament of Reconcilation.. study it, learn it, experience it, and most important, encounter it....you will see, GG, how beautiful confession is and how its NEEDED in order to make it to heaven, for anyone who is not cleansed of sin shall not enter heaven....a beautiful gift that God patiently waits in the confessional to hand such merciful graces...the Church says so, saints and the devout catholics do also, the Bible does (read into it, its there missy! and most importantly JESUS says soo...."Peace be with you, as the Father has sent me, so I send you. Then he breathed on them (the disciples) and said, "Recieve the Holy Spirit. If you forgive people's sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive, the are not forgiven."John 20: 21-23 aka what is hold bound on earth will be held bound heaven, thus....what sins we do not confess will endanger us of not making it to heaven.... God BLEss! and i hope that wasn't too much! lol.
littleflower+JMJ
as for my answer, going by what the answer choices are, confession was my answer... nowhere, and i mean, nowhere can one be absolved of their sins unless their catholic by a beloved priest! and that is soo amesome second only to the eucharist... its a beautiful sacrament, who would not go and have a chance to grow spiritually and love God even more? we need that sacrament and the eucharist like our bodys need air and water to breathe...you cant live without it... GodsThespianChic
Yep yep, welcome blonde! Transubstantiation~I took that to mean the Eucharist since that wasn't actually named in the choices. I love the fact that we have the Eucharist. I mean, it's amesome to think that He would so humble himself as to come to us in simple bread and wine. He gave us the Eucharist to be so much closer to Him!! And the fact that we can receive Him daily? It's just cool! Lately, my friends and I have been going to daily mass a couple times a week. I've found that even though I don't get to sleep, starting the day with Him gives me a better day. I have overall better days when I receive Him! I just think that He is so amesome and the Eucharist is overall the BEST thing about Catholicism!! There's no question about it to me!
Jake Huether
Great response LittleFlower! Oh my, you're becoming an Apologist (sp?). One other thing to note: The Churces Teachings are as old as the Church herself (2000 years). If you don't get why she does something, sometimes it's not as easy as a yes / no type answer. Yes there is scriptural proof for the Sacrament of confession. But it is much more. I mean, you brought up about someone not knowing about confession but being sorry when they die, etc. The Church does take all that into account. Our God is a murcyful God, and no one will be tossed into the flames of hell unjustly (and the Church teaches that). However, when you are in the Catholic Church and taught about the benefits and the necessity of Confession, yet you refuse this grace, then you will be held accountable for your decisions. If you are ignorant of the facts, then that is taken into account. But be ignorant no longer about this subject. As LittleFlower pointed out, read about the Saints, read about the Sacrament, but most of all learn about the Church, the guardian of the Sacraments. God bless you. Searcher825
I don't know what to choose! It's such a toss up between Eucharist and Confession and all the other stuff!! I love it all.. one of my favorite things that isn't a choice but what's great is no matter where you go Mass is the same... so weather you're in Australia or America it's all the same mass.. I think that's amesome. Whenever I move and stuff I always take comfort in the fact that I can go to Mass on SUnday and it will be the same as it was whereever I moved from...
