i received the following email, which i think everyone should pass on to everyone they know. we must proclaim the greatness of Pope John Paul II!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing to tell you about a wonderful new internet campaign that will publicly acclaim our dearly departed Holy Father as JOHN PAUL THE GREAT.

As you may know, only two Popes in history have ever become known as “The Great.” The first was Gregory the Great (d. 604) and the second was Leo the Great (d. 461).

I have come to know that this only ever happens by public acclamation. The title “Great” is not given by the Vatican. It is only given by the public acclamation, by you and me.

Did you know that at his funeral the people there in St. Peter’s Square were actually chanting “Magnus, Magnus, Magnus” meaning “Great, Great, Great.” It IS happening already! And you can help.

I urge you to go to this website --- http://www.c-fam.org/cgi-bin/jpthegreat.pl --- and sign the petition! And then, send this note around to as many family and friends as you possibly can! Just cut and paste this note to your whole address book.

You can help in this great campaign. Please go to http://www.c-fam.org/cgi-bin/jpthegreat.pl and sign the petition and then cut and paste this message to your entire address book!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yours sincerely,

That's quite a petition--very dramatic.

I signed it, by the way.

I'm pretty sure they were chanting "subito sancto" ... I don't remember any "magnus" chants...

but,

relatively similar.

It is a matter of time. He will be known as the JohnPaul The Great. Only a matter of time.

Why? Because those he touched, those who loved him, will not forget and refuse his greatness to be forgotten.

I am amongst them, too young to remember any other pope, yet old enough to know the short comings of this narrow view.

I was amongst those, who, may I dare say faithful, who was shy at going to church, who thought himself small because he dared believe. Pointed out, ridiculed, snickers followed my after-path. I kept my beliefs in the closet, always doubtful.

But then, in Denver Colorado, as young as I was, amongst so many others of my kins. And he had called us and no others but us. He had the 'greatness' to call us, because he knew we needed his calling. And John Paul had his world youth day. I cannot describe the uplifting inspirings that was given to me on this trip. I learned not only to honor my faith, but be proud, to hold it dear, the holy father had spoken to us, TO US, no one else, just us. We chanted, and chanted "John Paul II, we love you!" and this was the first this chant was heard, and it is still being echoed.

I, like many others, was in a sea of criticism and mochery. But he spoke to us, so clearly, so well, so dearly, that forever he became our papa.

It is a matter of time... why? Because the old are growing older... And those who now hold the world, will loose their grip. Those who inherit the world will be us, those who once where young, but now are older... but where inspired by JohnPaul who maybe, who might not be a Magnus to the rest of the world, but the tears I have shed are witness that he is a Magnus in our hearts, and we will proclaim it.

In the world that will soon be our own, the name will be screamed, will echo and will be wispered... John Paul the Great! The Magnus... my papa. forever my papa.

He is a Magnus... weither history remember it or not... he is a Magnus. May he be the smallest in heaven, the very smallest in heaven... I will find hapiness at his feet. Many have been sainted, several have been magnus... but only one is my papa: only one.

JOHN PAUL --- THE SECOND, THE GREAT, THE MAGNUS.
JohnPaul, forever my papa... for always my papa. forever my papa.

 • 2 months later...

I just received the following email:
Dear Friend,

A few months ago you signed an online petition that we sponsored calling for the naming of Pope John Paul II as “John Paul the Great!”

I am writing to give you the very good news that almost 30,000 people signed the petition. Furthermore, I will be delivering the petition with all these names to the Vatican in November. I will also be releasing the petition to the press, though I will keep your name private. I want to thank you profoundly for signing this petition. You should be quite pleased as you have joined all these people from all over the world for this great and good thing.

Also, when you signed the petition, you kindly said you would be happy to hear from us again with similar information. Thank you so much for that!

Starting later this week you will receive two weekly reports about Catholic and pro-life and pro-family activity in the United States, the United Nations and around the world.

I am president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), which lobbies the United Nations on behalf of the unborn and the traditional understanding of the family. In fact, we are the only conservative Christian group doing this work full time. You will begin receiving the weekly Friday Fax later this week. It is a one-page weekly report that investigates and reports on the ongoing threats to life, faith and family coming from the United Nations.

I am also president of the Culture of Life Foundation, a Washington DC based think tank that gathers and disseminates the facts and science related to the culture of life broadly understood. Next week you will begin receiving our weekly report called Culture and Cosmos which explores culture of life issues in the US and around the world.

Please enjoy both reports and let me know what you think of them. When you get them, you can hit “reply” and your email will come directly to my personal email address.

Again, many thanks for helping out with the John Paul the Great petition and thanks, also, for asking for further information from us.

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse
President
Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute
