Protesting Abortion

BLAZEr

Recommended Posts

The problem is people don't KNOW what abortion is until they SEE it. If you tell them they're killing babies by choosing abortion, that's not enough. They'll shrug you off, "Yeah, how sad" and that's it.

But SEEING what abortions IS is different. Like Blaze said, I've seen enough pictures of Holocaust victims, they're everywhere. People back then could have been saying "So they're killing people in Europe, that's sad....etc, etc.". But pictures convey the mass murder way better.

Am i making any sense  ?

I don't think so.

If people were aware of what it means to loose a baby rather than just the proceedure involved in it's termination, I'm sure people would consider otherwise.

Thomas Michael

I brought something like this up a while back, and just wanted to reiterate...

Displaying graphic pictures to adults and teens is fine with me - I understand the intent behind it, though I personally don't have to see any dismembered babies to know abortion is horrible - but PLEASE be responsible adults and keep those pictures away from where young children might see them and become mentally traumatized. That's all I'm concerned about.

i agree.

But people have hearts of stone. Our society is just messed up, people just DON'T CARE. But everyone is at least somehow repelled by death and how it's caused. That's one way to reach some people with what that death means for a baby.

I guess the imagery is going to still be used, but I agree that it must be kept away from children and only used when it is consisered ABSOLUTLY necessary, i.e. when all other attempts to change the opinion of the mother have failed. I seriously urge you to reconsider your methods, but since the chances you will are slim, please use the pictures wisely.

its funny that you should mention that because when we were doing our protest on the streets of manhattan, we happened to be at the Garden during the Circus. Tons of kids saw our pictures and were not traumatized. Most looked with curiosity others were grossed out, but their parents were freaking out. The kids seemed fine.

Did anyone say "We shouldn't show the falling towers on TV because the children might see it?"

The reality is that gruesome procedure is a part of life and its a good opportunity to teach your children that there are evils in the world and that their parents are doing their best to stop evil. You would be surprised how NOT-disturbed most children are by these images.

Part of our protest included handing out a pamphlet called "Why are these people showing these disgusting images?" It included a section on how to talk to your kids about it. Clearly the kids would not be the intended audience (just like the news) but if they happen to see them, their reaction usually corresponds to their parents reaction. I spent about 45 minutes talking with some kids about 9-12 years old explaining to them what my poster was about. They took it upon themselves to go and start handing out literature and telling people that they should look at the pictures and help stop this evil. Of course this was in the Bronx, so we're talking about kids who see rough things in life every day, we're not talking about Pansy white kids from the suburbs. ;)

I also must emphasize that I do not think that these graphic images are very effective outside of abortion clinics. I don't think they are harmful there, I just think that they create a climate that is not conducive to peaceful dialogue. I think these images are very effective as a means of general protest and education (Like the Face the Truth tour we were on). But as you can see from the article that Chris Flaherty wrote, they can be effective in stopping abortions outside of abortion clinics. We did not know that we would be standing right near a planned parenthood clinic, but 6 babies were saved because we were. That's an amesome witness to the power of these images.

I've used graphic images to get the point across before.

Exposing the evil is not itself an evil.

Some people refuse to listen, or refuse to see the horror of abortion until they have to face the Truth.

Those pictures are the Truth that Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, NOW, and the abortion industry don't want the public to see.

If children watch the news, they've seen graphic images. We cannot isolate our children from all of the horrors of life. At least if our children do see these pictures, they are sooooooooo very grateful to know that their mommy and daddy are fighting to end this nightmare, and they are glad to know that God blessed them with mommies and daddies who chose life.

It's not a perfect world. If it was, our children would never see these images. If it was, abortion would not exist.

I still cry every time I see "Baby David." Not sure if any of you have ever seen his photo...heartwrenching.

A friend of mine was doing a project on abortion for school, and you would not believe some of the images I saw. I used to say that I was pro-choice, but that I would never get an abortion, but now I'm 100% pro-life because of those images. Graphic images don't get the kind of responses that you would think they do from most people. Ofcourse there are those people who will over react, but most people will stop to think about it once they see the pictures. That's just my own opinion, but I know for most of my friends, it's the same way.

hey i posted a link to disturbing imadges of abortions on my aim profile, and my friend went to it. This "young white male" was tottaly converted on abortion. So whoever says showing the true horrors that go on during an abortion are wrong, they are incorrect on this matter.
