I like Chinese swords a bunch. They don't get as much publicity as their Japanese counterparts but I think they're better. I'm particularly fond of the liang shou jian and the willow leaf dao. They're pretty. Anybody else like Chinese swords?

LOL

I have a really nice differentially treated damascus steel willow leaf dao. I like it a bunch and it cuts like you wouldn't believe. I still need to give it a professional polish but that'll cost another 400 dollars and the sword was more than that. Blech...swords are an expensive hobby.

I know. I'm really white - blonde hair, blue eyes. But I used to be able to speak Chinese and my roommates in college for 3 years were Chinese. (One was Chinese-Canadian from Toronto). It was funny because people would ask me if I was from China when I talked with my roommates and I'd look at them like they were idiots.

Ah yeah I learned mandarin and my friends were from mainland China, and not the south, so it worked. I used to be able to speak French, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Now I can speak a bit of French, a bit of Japanese, and I can read Latin and Old English. My Chinese is reduced to baby sentences.

Edit: Oh, and yeah. In your picture you look half-chinese.

They keep pushing each other out. I'm starting Arabic over the summer and I'm sure that's going to make me forget my Japanese. I constantly use my French to do my Medieval History research though, so it sticks around.

Well it's great for reading what medieval european people had to say. I like medieval latin better than classical latin. And I'm doing Arabic because I love medieval Islam. I'm on a weird muslim kick right now...

I love the old prayers...my favorite is the inscription on the medal of St. Benedict.
