In our modern-style confessionals, the priest has a lamp on his side. Its a bit shady on the anonymous side of the screen, but enough to read from a cheatsheet. We have 2 modern confessionals and two old ones. The old ones are only used during Lent during special confession times where a large crowd is expected.

my old church has both... 3 old style confessionals, 1 new style... The old are used more frequently...

and that would be great Aloysius as long as it was actually 2 priest a parish in the entire diocese... otherwise I would doubt there would be enough.

before the invention of the anonyomous confessional people had to confess their sins outloud during mass in front of the entire congregation!

you know what, never mind. as long as there's a priest available to do mass they can offer it. just offer it an hour before mass, and cut it off a half hour before mass so the priest can get ready to do mass.

for a while i went to a jesuit church. And they didn't have a confessional they had a "reconciliation room" and they offered confession only 10 minutes before mass.

My church has a room that has a partial wall and kneeler screen thing built into the wall or the option to go around and sit in the chair and there is a light
