Is there anything special a first time boarder on an airplane should know before leaving?

Thanks.

 I was thinking you meant that you were flying an airplane!

I've never flown before either... so I'm not much help. Where are you flying to?

Bring a couple of good books to read. If you only bring one, undoubtedly, you won't be in the mood for that one.

I'd say take a good stiff drink before boarding, but since you're a teenager, I won't.

When the drink cart comes around and you get a dinky little cup with a third of a cup of soda in it, it's okay to ask for the rest of the can. :)

Noel's angel

it's not scary-i was petrified of heights until i got on a plane, now I'm fine. I'd just echo what everyone else said about getting there early and packing your things yourself and bringin plenty to occupy yourself with

the take off and landing feel exactly the same as a roller coaster ride, as far as the force you will feel on your seat. Nothing major and nothing scarry....

Bring a spare set of clothes and some toiletries in your carry-on luggage. You'll never know if/when/how long your main luggage will be lost. Get up and walk around once in a while, you don't want your legs to fall asleep! Bring a CD player and some headphones in case there's some screaming babies on flight.

as for tips for flying for the first time.....i'm not fond of flying, but i do it

my best advice....a lot of the sounds are loud, especially during take off....my general rule is if people around me don't look nervous, it must be normal...it seems to have worked for me so far.

I suggest bringing a pack of gum for ascent/descent. It helps pop your ears and at least to me, makes it more comfortable when the cabin preesure changes.
