That would be a lie. They still do not accept the entire deposit of Faitha, and they still disagree over the role of the Pope.

Also, if you were to say that being in schism required being excommunicated, that would be a lie. Being in schism just means that you are not under the seat of St. Peter. That could mean many of the Churches, including the Nosterean(sp?) church. The Syrian and Chaldean churches rejoined the Catholic Church after reaccepting the pope's primacy, they were in schism without an excommunication.

The Orthodox Church is not part of the True Church founded by Jesus Christ. It is STILL a lie to say "their church is salvic". Not Catholic = Not salvic.

By the way, most Orthodox Churches still think the filolique is an error. Like I said, you cannot consider them all one. There are many respective Orthodox Sees that are not at all united with each other. The big two being the Greek and Russian Orthodox.

Simple signs the Orthodox aren't Catholic:
Many still right viouciously against the Pope.
They have been slow to accept council decrees and ex Cathedra statements.
When the Pope went to Greece, thousands came out to boo him and show their hate.
The Orthodox Church has been in schism since the beggining of the second millenium.

From New Advent:
There is not really any question of doctrine involved. It is not a heresy, but a schism. The Decree of Florence made every possible concession to their feelings. There is no real reason why they should not sign that Decree now. They deny papal infallibility and the Immaculate Conception, they quarrel over purgatory, consecration by the words of institution, the procession of the Holy Ghost, in each case misrepresenting the dogma to which they object. It is not difficult to show that on all these points their own Fathers are with those of the Latin Church, which asks them only to return to the old teaching of their own Church.
Their heretical notions are a rejection of what the Eastern Church fathers taught. However, they are still heretical (the notions).

God bless,
Mikey

To be fair - the denial of the Immaculate Conception of Mary is because they have a different understanding of Original Sin.

Don John of Austria

How about this from Unum Sanctum you can't get much more" from the Chair "than this.

"Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is

absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be

subject to the Roman Pontiff."
