jp2_rules
callouses, baby!
YES!!! a guitarist's best friend! i have been playing for over 3 years, and they've been so thick for so long, that the doctor's can't draw blood unless they do it from the side of my fingers (which isn't easy, either...). it's kinda funny. oh, and unfortunately i haven't seen this thread till now. i'd be happy to answer any questions about guitars. i've helped teach a few ppl. the best advice from what i've seen so far, is just to keep practicing!! remember, perfect practice makes perfect. learn to play everything the 'right' way, and your technique will be that much stronger as you go along. it's easy to take shortcuts, but don't. it takes sooo much longer to have to re-learn how to do something than putting in the effort to it right the first time. muscle memory will help your hands remember the chords. and playing along w/ the recorded version will certainly help your rhythm. learn a new chord or two every song, and you'll end up knowing a boatload before long. barre chords are also very convenient, but for now, prob just work on your open chords, and build strength in your fingers to be able to do barre chords. peace, chris
Fides_et_Ratio
I just started learning to play the guitar in April... 2 of my guitar strings broke though, so I have to put my learning on hold until I can get new ones (or hopefully a new guitar!... I have an old "classical" guitar.. it stinks).
sweetpea316
I've had a guitar for about a year now, but have only been seriously playing for a month or two. It is soooo fun though! It's coming pretty easily for me, so I'm happy about that. Now I can't wait until I get good enough to write my own songs. That is what I'm looking forward to! Oh, and 'Wonderwall' by Oasis is really easy to play, I just learned it yesterday! God bless yall and your guitar playing!
franciscanheart
Yeah it comes really easily to me too. I have a good memory for chords and finger placement unlike my father. I think he's getting frustrated because im learning so fast!!

theculturewarrior
I just bought a Spanish guitar. Handmade in Spain with a bone nut and bridge. It's beautiful. It's really going to add to my "act" if God ever wants me to have an act. Now I've got to customize it so that it the strings lie down when I put a capo on. (I'm a lefty). I've also been playing my twelve string. I don't have a lot of time to practice, so I'm always a little wanting as far as technique is concerned, but here's some of my music (underneath the Sunrise of my Soul): http://www.lawrencetribe.com/justin
