Duc_In_Altum
Why doesn't PM advocate hip-hop in the liturgy. Believe me, I fullheartedly agree with you guys on this for many reasons. I just wanted to hear the full reasons that PM states. God bless orthodox ministry. namuste. -Joe
dUSt
Although phatmass produces Catholic hip-hop, you are right, we do not advocate the use of hip-hop in the liturgy. We view the artform of hip-hop as a method of communication, and not all forms of communication are acceptable in the liturgy. The liturgy is sacred, and the inside of a church should remain reverent and condusive to prayer. We do not believe hip-hop properly creates this atmosphere. If one is trying to concentrate on trigonometry homework, or is trying to write a thesis, they are not likely playing hip-hop in the background to help them concentrate. Likewise, if one is inside a church and is trying to focus on prayer, and the contemplation of Christ's true presence in the Eucharist, hip-hop is not the type of music that will help them achieve this. God bless.
