Era Might
Saw this movie today. Excellent, excellent film. It didn't settle for the easy moralizing, setting whites against everyone else. It cleverly wove racism among all the characters. The ending was perfect, with the black lady who was the target of racism earlier in the film telling the chinamen to speak American. There was definitely a tone of redemption in the film. Haha how about that St. Christopher statue. I didn't feel at all like Antonius after seeing it. I thought that the entire film was padded with hope, from the racist cop who faced his racism in a concrete way, to the little girl and her father, and to Don Cheadle, who I suspect would become Catholic if they ever made a sequel. But that's just my own biased guess. Edited October 30, 2005 by Era Might

cappie
Crash was the shock winner at the 78th Academy Awards, winning best film ahead of favourite Brokeback Mountain. The filmmakers paid tribute to fellow nominees for creating one of the "most maverick, breathtaking" years in films. Ang Lee won best director for Brokeback Mountain, but ultimately the film only won three of its eight nominations.
