Communion and Liberation

Does anyone know much about the movement Communion and Liberation? What is it, and are there groups in the United States? From their website, they seem to be somewhat similar to Opus Dei and Regnum Christi. But if anyone has any more info than this, I would appreciate it.

There are quite a few kids on the site who are members of CL. I am one of them. Somewhere on the homepage there's a list of US cities with groups, but if you can't find it I can probably hook you up with some names. I know NYC and the Evansville, IN have pretty sizable groups, but there are groups in most major cities.

Awesome group. Takes a really hard look at faith, Christianity, and Catholicism. It's a good time with good people.

CL is an amazing organization; I encourage everyone to read the works of Msgr. Luigi Giussani. He's an EXCELLENT author.

I actually just finished chapter 3 of At the Origin of the Christian Claim today. It's fascinating stuff! I'm reading that book at the same time I'm reading Ratzinger's Truth and Tolerance, and there seems to be a LOT of overlap. I knew those two were close friends, but I didn't know that their writings were so similar...

I finished The Religious Sense about a month ago, and I had to take some time to process all that was in there - so cool...

Totally agree....it is almost a movement in and of itself. I would be willing to bet now that Benedict is Pope, you'll see a more profoud movement toward this becoming a formalized spirituality within the Church.

I, for one, would like to see it. I can see it growing into something like The Work.

I know two guys who are part of CL. From what they've said of the movement, it sounds like a very solid organization indeed. God bless them.

Communion and Liberation is awesome! I just met them this year in New York, which is where I go to college. I was so happy to find such a group of Catholics. Their charism is inspiring and it is plain to see Christ in their community.

Lil Red: Isn't Riro awesome? After the CLU (the CL university-age members) saw The Motorcycle Diaries, he came in and played Cuban and Chilean revolutionary songs for us and we all sang along of course. Fun stuff.

I am not familiar with other lay movements, but CL is really amazing. Msgr. Luigi Giussani was a brilliant man. I encourage anyone who is interested to definitely check them out, whereever you are.

His mannerisms, eh? Haha. I don't know him that well. ;)

Many people before I met CL provoked me to think about my faith, but CL made me realize why I think about my faith, why it's such a big deal anyway.

Don Giussani understands things in such profound yet honestly simple way.

riro rocks my socks! i love watching him sing! such joy on his face...

i also love Msgr. Albacete...brilliant man as well. and great storyteller/teacher

i also met the movement this year through BLAZEr. i absolutely love it...it challenges me to judge everything in front of me. the movement is best learned about through experience. just keep talking to the people who introduced you to the movement. BLAZEr has been such a great reference point for me and the other people i have met through the movement are all incredible people...they live with passion and intensity...and they know how to have a good time!!!

So so true. They know how to have a good time because they know what truly makes us happy.

My experience with the movement and the people in it is nothing short of wonderful. The word "Christ" brings so much joy to them, because of how much they learned from Giusanni's writings. I have learned how to understand truly how much the Incarnation really means to me and to humanity in general. Like Giussani, Christ and the movement inspire me to become more human, more who I am, and thus how much I need God.
