Believe me, I'm loyal to the Holy Father, and even pleased and optimistic with his selection.

The thing is, don't you think he kind of looks sneaky?

he looks old. He looks like he'd be more comfortable retired. He looks reluctant and a little nervous about all the attention. sneaky, I don't see it.

I am sure the Holy Spirit Chose a great person and i know you cant judge a person by his or her looks, and i dont do that, but i think its the wells of shadows produced around his eyes

He does look a bit scary in this picture. I definitely think that there is a bit of a slant to his eyebrows that gives him a bit of an "angry" look. But overall, I think he looks pretty good.

Ash Wednesday

It's times like this I really dislike aspects of the media age. I hate to think of how the faithful would have picked apart the appearances past popes.

How many of us spend time noticing what a pontiff is wearing or what he looks like compared to the amount of time we spend reading an encyclical or book written by him? I'm the first to admit that I'm guilty of doing this, and I don't think it's a good thing.

Let's think for a second about all the times we would be so angry at the press for emphasizing how frail and in poor health our John Paul looked.

I have to ask if this kind of observation any more fair, or even necessary to begin with?

God bless.

I'm sorry, Ash. I don't mean to say I think he is sneaky. I certainly wasn't trying to dissect his looks. It was more of just a silly observation, kind of like the red shoe thing.

I think it is worth noting that in many of his pictures, he looks noble, but MSNBC only shows the bad pictures.
