I went to Minnesota once, but I didn't get to see the lake. The bus took me straight to Kalamazoo and I guess you can't see Lake Minnesota until you get to like, Lansing or something.
Oh my gosh more Minnesotans?  No wonder I feel so at home here.

Care for some pop?
Or a little hotdish?
Or stop by Hinkley for a Caramel Roll?
We could play "Duck, Duck, Grey Duck"!

Uffda dat's good.
It's duck, duck, GOOSE......freaky Minnesotans don't know how to play the game properly....who has ever heard of a purple duck?

And even though I lived in Minnesota for 10 years, I never found out exactly what a hotdish was.....something like a cassarole I assume.

:rotfl:

Can you shed some light on this hot stuff? Since you have A DEGREE in Theology.

It's not nice to scare a poor college student, but I forgive :D all is well.

P.S. One of my friends here is from Texas so it's all good.

A "cassarole" is a glass or ceramic dish used for cooking.
A "hotdish" is the food cooked in a cassarole, the exact makeup of which you will never know because no one writes it down.

 silly church scholars think they know everything.

To be honest, I thought that a cassarole was a cardinal, but then I remembered that His Emminence was Cardinal Cassaroli.

However, I understand that the casserole is a dish, but the definition is this:
cas·se·role    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (ks-rl)
n.

1.
    a.  A dish, usually of earthenware, glass, or cast iron, in which food is both baked and served.
    b.  Food prepared and served in such a dish.

2.
Chemistry. A small-handled, deep porcelain crucible used for heating and evaporating.
dictonary.com

So, we are both right, but what is hotdish? There is no definiton for it.

Sorry, I may be a Church scholar, but I also am learning to cook. (I love my new grill  )

Camster,

It is "Duck Duck Greyduck" in Minnesota for one simple reason. If Minnesotans were to play it the "other"way it would go like this.

Duck
Duck
Duck
Duck
Gooooooooooooooo... (I'd be tagged before I could get the whole word out.)

It is our love for vowels that makes us want to elongate them!!

I'll bring you down a hotdish when I come to Iowa!!

But to be truly Minnesotan, you have to turn it down twice.

"Would you like something to eat?"
"No I'm fine"
"Really its no trouble"
"Thank you that's sweet but I'm not that hungry"
"Don't be silly!! I'm happy to do it"
"Well if its not a bother"

I've never seen that trait anywhere else in the world!
