SevenSorrows
The reason the club scene is jacked is because of what music they listen to..
YEAH blame the music!!!! It is the downfall of society!!! hehehehe sorry to be sarcastic...I know music influences people....but I highly doubt that if the music changed all of a sudden girls would dress modest, people would stop freaking, no dance floor making out, no getting drunk, and going out and having sex. cause then all the "Fun" would be taken out of the club experience.... SevenSorrows
REMEMBER IT IS A PROVEN FACT THAT WHAT GOES INTO YOUR EYES GOES INTO YOUR MIND, WHAT GOES INTO YOUR MIND GOES INTO YOUR HEART, WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART GOES INTO YOUR LIFE (YOU ACT IT OUT) WHEN YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH THINGS IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU BECOME PART OF THE PROBLEM.
I am not sure, who or when that "fact" has been proven. If this were true then Jesus HAD to have been a sinner, not to mention his mom...cause all they were around was hoes and tax collectors. If your statement was correct then that would mean that all the people at mass would be perfect catholics. Remember, most of the greatest saints were those who put themselves in bad situations and lived their life with "bad" people on purpose.
SevenSorrows
Hopefully I have somewhat answered your questions. Now I hope someone will answer mine.
Yeah you have....good answers. It really sounds like you are coming from the right place/mindset. I totally support ya....especially when you go to a church dance and it looks like a regular club I know where you come from...cause I am in a band....(so being on the other side the spectrum)...so I totally support what you are doing. It would be awesome to "steal" kids away to morality thru music..which is what we try to do as well. Keep up what you are doing. As for someone answering your question....hehehee sorry...I think there is more Catholic rap/hip hop/danceable stuff...than there is Catholic rock....and I think it is all on this website...hehehehe. so maybe you can inspire kids/youth to make it. I know all dancing isn't freaking...the whole "dancing is fun" in quotes was for all those people who will compromise their morality and put themselves in constant temptation and justify it because "dancing is fun"....meaning that we morally can't do whatever we want just because "it is fun". SevenSorrows
Do you feel the same way about rock concerts? (I'm not trying to be sarcastic; I agree with most of what you said. I'm just curious if you are consistent with your standards)
ARE YOU TRYING TO QUESTION MY STANDARDS....YOU...YOU...YOU MINI GOLF CHAMPION!!!! hehehehe I don't feel like typing forever....but in short....yes...but the situations are different. I am into underground music..and most of those clubs don't serve alcohol....girls don't dress (as) slutty...cause they are all into the "hardcore fasion"..and the purpose isn't to be picking up girls, or drinking, or dancing with someone...it is to watch the music..so it is different... and as for big concerts...things are still kinda different...but I wouldn't go to a concert of someone who promoted those type of actions, or drew those kinds of fans (and you can always see what bands are on a show). They usually keep christian shows seperate from secular and if an "immoral" band slips on a show....you can always boo them...hahahaha.
KnightoftheImmaculate1
the thing about what goes into your eyes...concerns surrounding yourself with evil and not having any good to sustain you. Of course Christ and His saints didn't fall victim to this because they had divinity, in Jesus' case, or the Sacraments to rely on to keep them on the path. That is a fact of sociology though. It largely has to do with porn. If you look at it eventually you will be involved in it. Remember also that St. Francis of Assisi avoided temptations against purity at all costs. One time he was walking along the road and there was a woman nearby, he was tempted to impurity so he jumped in to the bushes next to the road to keep himself from sinning. Don't think for a second that any one of us could just walk into an impure club, party, etc. and not be tempted. Remember also that we must avoid the near occasion of sin. If one is weak against these temptations to impurity I don't think it is a good idea to surround yourself with it. I am not telling anyone what to do, I am just saying what not to do. Yes, I think that having the Catholic message, which is the most truly human, in the pagan scene is what must happen. But as you know, do not expect them to just convert with that alone. HomeTeamFamily
for what its worth at this point, one of the secuar stations that plays club music late at night on the weekends, had the beat to Righteous B (please spare any criticism of him) playing in the background during one of their commercial breaks/dj talking things
Dj 86
We have our own resident DJ here at Phatmass (dj 86). Hit em up.
I'm a different kind of Dj. I got into it for the mixtape/ battle(tricks, scratching..etc) aspect. I used to spin at parties for cash to support it. I don't do parties anymore, but when I did I played music that the crowd was into. If i was doing a party with alot of neighborhood girls, I would spin freestyle records, with some hip hop mixed in for the dudes. I think the idea of a Catholic club would be awesome though. Check out Lounge Daddy's music.....he's got some real good stuff that people can easily dance to.
julzrobz
Wusup fams, i did some googling and searching on here, and so far, this is all i've found on "danceable" music... and to put it in proper context, this music i speak of is for a creative production (not, not liturgical dance..lol).. i'm looking to produce lyrical hip-hop to this track. I've done some searching with Blue Mantle Cru, dj 86 and so far, it's been showing limited results.. Does anyone have any resources you can share? here's the feel i'm looking for: Thanks guys! God bless, julz PS: Sorry for resurrecting this thread

MarysLittleFlower
Ive been to many many clubs here in LA which is club CITY! o my gosh ive seen so many girls strip and show there boobs or thong, and sometimes pull their thongs or underwear off. Im a good Catholic guy and i only go because of friends, but i rarely hang out with them because i don't like being around those areas or experiences. Everyone in there is always trying to be hard, drunk, high, grabbing girls and the girls are just the same. They make me sick......sorry but i don't see the catholic music being played in there. I don't think the DJ will put it on, even if its a club banger, still they wont play it because of the lyrics. It has to have the F word and talk about girls body parts and how much money you have. The sad thing is that a lot of these females are looking for a good guy and really don't want to be in places like that. Or so i think so, ive talked to a lot of girls from clubs after they close the place and they seem totally different from what you see in the club. ALmost if they are only performing a show inside and then when they are outside they are more humble and not as wild. I dunno maybe its because they are just tired just being honest with you - such a place is just putting yourself in an occasion of sin. You said you're strong enough - but I was taught putting ourselves in temptation thinking we are strong enough, is called presumption. It can also cause scandal cause your buddies might think such things are ok because a Catholic guy goes there. I think it would help your friends more to witness to them by not going clubbing and this would protect your soul too. Think about how holy God is and how He sees a place like that. I think it would please Him if you said no to your friends in this. Our company can affect us a lot. Personally I don't think clubs are compatible with Catholicism and our morals. The immodesty in dress and movement, impurities, bad company... Do we really want to participate after receiving Jesus physically into ourselves? I don't think this is just my opinion. Its good if you want to.witness to the people there but I'm sure there are other ways. Even if you change the music, the immodesty and suggestive dancing remains. St Padre Pio story: http://www.padrepio.catholicwebservices.com/ENGLISH/Confess.htm A man once went to St. Giovanni Rotondo to confess to Padre Pio. It was between 1954 and 1955. When he finished the accusation of his sins Padre Pio said: "Do you have anything else to confess?" and he said, "No Father!" He repeated the question: "Do you have anything else to confess?" "No Father!" For a third time Padre Pio asked him: "Do you have anything else to confess? At this third negative answer the hurricane exploded. With the voice of the Holy Spirit Padre Pio howled: "Go away! Go away! Because you are not reformed of your sins!" The man was also petrified because of the shame that he felt in front of so many people. Then he tried to say something but Padre Pio said: "Keep silent, gossiper, you have spoken enough; I now want to speak. Is it true that you go to discos?” "Yes, Father." "Do you know that dancing is an invitation to the sin?" The man was surprised and he didn't know what to say: he had the membership card of a disco in his wallet. The man promised not to commit any other sins and after a lot of effort he received absolution. This was in the 50s!! Yea maybe many would disagree with me but I don't see how such a place can be good. Also I'm not sure what would be the point of getting people to dance to this music. This wouldn't dispose them to listening to the lyrics and the message. (By 'this music' I mean club music with Christian lyrics. It can even lead people to think the suggestive dancing is compatible with Christianity). Edited August 7, 2015 by MarysLittleFlower
MarysLittleFlower
Ah should look at the dates more carefully when replying to a thread. But anyway - I think best to be careful with the club stuff.
Nihil Obstat
Old thread or not, I totally agree. Clubs are dens of filth, perversion, and depravity, and a serious Catholic has no business patronizing one.
He is Risen!
I think that if the club has kind of a Catholic Underground vibe, it's not only not bad but very beneficial. After an hour of guided adoration, we would gather in the church basement for fellowship and music, usually something kind of hip-hoppy. Confessions were heard by several priests all night with lines out the door for confession, it was attended by many of the area's religious sisters and brothers but mostly to young adults in their 20s and 30s. I agree that most secular clubs are pretty slimy and a place for hooking up but, a there is no reason that it has to be that way, in fact at Catholic underground had a pretty strong contingent of mantilla-heads. It's nice to have a Catholic social that's not a stuffy church picnic or a box of basement doughnuts covered in preschoolers.
