p0lar_bear
There are not words to describe how offended I am....this is the second one. One was sold last week for $2,000 (bought by a Grand Knight from the Knights of Columbus to protect it). Brother Adam
You're kindof late on this one eh? Last week we had a four page thread on another Eucharist that sold on ebay for $2000 dollars. Ebay also sent most of us rude emails.

Colleen
 This is so disgusting. My family is now boycotting eBay. I think it's terrible that eBay refuses to stop this. It's so wrong. Brother Adam
Dear Fitch, Thank you for your response. I would hope your Catholic employees would be outraged by the sale of the Eucharist on Ebay. Unlike relics and mormon garments, what has been allowed to take place here is the sale of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. While this belief is not held by non-Catholics, Ebay should make it their policy to respect the religious beliefs of others. Including the Mormon, Buddhist, and other religions. I will be sure to foreward your response on to the Catholic League, ZENIT News Agency, and other Catholic organizations who's membership numbers in the hundreds of millions worldwide. You have of course lost me as a customer, and I will include in my email all Ebay subsidary companies so those too can be avoided. While no company truly cares if they lose one customer, I believe you will see a noticable affect to the bottom line in your company in the coming months. If your company changes their policy to respect religious organizations in the future, please email me. Sincerely, Adam Janke Catechatics, Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio ----Original Message Follows---- From: eBay Customer Support <rswebhelp@ebay.com> Reply-To: eBay Customer Support <rswebhelp@ebay.com> To: <janke_ad@hotmail.com> Subject: EN62827 PI Response to your email concerning eBay's ended listing policies. (KMM164585420V57884L0KM) Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 10:12:05 -0700 Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write eBay with your concerns. I'm happy to help you further. We understand that you are upset at having seen certain Catholic items or items related to the Pope on eBay, including item #6169851381. Because eBay’s community is a diverse, international group of more than 135 million users with varied backgrounds and beliefs, there are times when some items listed on eBay by sellers might be offensive to at least some of our users somewhere in the world. At times, members may see listings that they may consider morally wrong or objectionable. However, even though these listings may be offensive to some, please remember that most of the time the law does not prohibit the items. Due to the fact that eBay’s focus is to have a free and diverse community, we are reluctant to interfere with listings that are not illegal. Regarding offensive items, there are many items that are considered sacred to many people of various religions, and we sometimes hear complaints about these items. Examples would be Catholic relics of saints, Mormon (LDS) garments, certain Buddhist tablets, etc. However, eBay has made the decision not to prohibit any item only on the basis of the item being endowed with sacred properties by certain religious groups. In general, eBay will remove items for a violation of our Offensive Materials policy only in extreme examples in which the listing explicitly promotes hatred, violence, or racial intolerance. However, we do not remove religious items that are otherwise legal for sale and do not violate any other eBay listing policy. Please keep in mind that many of us at eBay may also share your distaste with an item, and may not support the sale. In fact, eBay has many Catholic employees. However, we do our best to understand and tolerate the many viewpoints held by our worldwide community. The Eucharist is not illegal to sell, and is generally allowed on eBay as long as the seller does not otherwise include hateful text or images in the listing. Although we realize that you may not agree with this decision on eBay’s part, we hope that you can respect the diverse and open nature of eBay’s marketplace. It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay. Regards, Fitch Community Watch Team eBay Trust & Safety

Dreamweaver
Well, I don't see why they don't permit the sale of other religious items (Mormon undergarments for example), but turn a blind eye when the Eucharist is sold. Hypocrisy? Yes. I don't even purchase things on Ebay, and I definately won't now, as they don't respect my faith at all.
Fidei Defensor
I dont know about this one.. there is no picture or anything, so how can you be sure? The bid seems quite high for it to be a fraud.. Lets pray that someone will get it who will take it to a Church Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
p0lar_bear
OK, so ebay doesn't listen. (still waiting on responses from the CEO)...what about writing the seller?...seeing if the secular media will get involved? I don't love everything Bill O'Reilly says, but he's Catholic, so might be willing to get behind this.... The Cardinals are a bit preoccupied right now, but are people letting their bishops know about this? We can do more than just write ebay It's up to 2 million dollars right now... thicke
I kind of liked the idea that Lauren from CNYTR had. After all, this does violate The eBay policy about food.
StMichael
This is the perfect example why Holy Communion should be given on the tongue only. As for eBay, this is against the laws of the Roman Catholic Church and for eBay to claim otherwise and not cease and desist this at once offends over 1.1 billion Catholics worldwide. Spread the word and lets see if we can't create a webpage outlining this as well as an email writing campaign from this page. We must defend and save the Body of Christ.
