The NAB is not used at mass, it is totally different translation.
That's odd, because my home parish, St. Peters and Holy Family, as well as the school chapel, and the lectionary I have on my bookshelf are all NAB, what translation do they use at your parish?
hey. look. read. I don't need an RSV. I have to have a NAB. It's not my choice.
Sorry. I just find it odd that you don't use the RSV-CE in your studies. I thought it was standard.

Some parishes give NAB's away for free. :)

God bless.

Some theology uses RSV. Basic theology uses NAB since the Church uses it and it helps out new Catholics and Catholics that don't know much about their faith alot. 200 and higher use RSV.

Bro Adam,
You should be more precise in your statements to avoid confusion. The NAB is used by the diocese in the USA. But JP2 and the Catechism use the (N)RSV-CE. So,"the Church" uses different translations. Let me just repeat that there are only three English translations approved in the US:

RSV-CE, NAB (but not the one with revised NT and Psalms) and the Jerusalem Bible. Note the NEW Jerusalem Bible and the NEW RSV-CE are not appoved. (The approval of the DRV has technically not been abrogated, but for serious bible study, most use the other more modern translations because they reflect the original languages and the most current original text).
The other variations violate the Vatican's norms of translations, usually with inclusive language. Unfortunately, the older additions can be harder to find.

If you don't mind using EBay, you can go here: http://search.ebay.com/new-american-bible-...romZR40QQsojsZ1

They have bibles to bid from .99 and used bibles for sale for $9 and new ones for $21.

The liturgical translation is similar to the NAB but not at all the same. As my abbot (who sits on the pontifical Biblical council) put it "The NAB is really too flim flam to stand the test of time, that is why we had to restranslate the liturgical texts."

Also, there are new lectionaries as of 04, I believe the old ones before that were NAB.

The NAB has too many issues it trys to push.
