which is synonomous with spiritual death. When in a state of mortal sin, your soul is dead, figuratively speaking, but also literally, because if you died in that state you would be banished for eternity to hell. If being in a state of mortal sin is not spiritual death, then I don't know what is. I am done debating this. I have to get some work done.

Fidei Defensor

Ok kiddos i think we got our points across?
Its one thing to offer advice about whether its a sin..
But its another to fight over someone's personal business.

Please no more. Both sides have talked. Now let curtins decide.

i think you're overreacting. from one of cam's posts:
Incidentally, just because you go into the confessional doesn't necessarily mean that on is in a state of sin. Part of the confessional is to get counselling. That can be a good thing. As I ahve said, confession is never a bad thing.

If you read just what I am saying, I am saying go to confession and Father will decide the best course. I think that you assume that I am saying that it is a sin.
cam is basically saying, "check with your priest. explain it to him. it's better than asking people on phatmass who don't know the particulars and may tell you one thing only to have it be wrong."

cam kept saying, check with your priest.

well, I have asked several questions like this on different Catholic forums to help me clear up issues such as this and have very often found my question to be based in definite scrupulosity. I'm not saying that is the case here, but I think our careful discussion of this issue is important.

I agree with Cam about the possibility of doubt or I guess dubium here, but I think we need to make sure we don't take have this be a cause for scrupulosity. Definitly, when in doubt it is proper to go to Confession and recieve the advise or absolution, but I know there also times when doubt does not demand a confession as is the case with scrupulosity.

Ash Wednesday

What is a "dubium"?

Curtins, by all means, you most certainly can take a spiritual communion. God would love that, and he does know where your heart is. :) I agree with the general consensus to talk to the priest about the situation since there are questions.
