toledo_jesus
still, I agree you should mention it the next time you are in the confessional.
Brother Adam
Cam, I assumed that the reason is that there is no adequate means of transportation to Mass.
Yes, why exactly are you telling someone they have to confess it when you are not privy to all of the information?
homeschoolmom
and if he has no way to mass, it's quite likely he has no ride to confession, either (though I hope this is not the case...)
Cam42
Yes, why exactly are you telling someone they have to confess it when you are not privy to all of the information? curtins
well see the thing is- We were gonna go to cape cod- then my mom got sick yesterday and we didnt know if we were gonna go or not. I got up at like 930 and found out that only my dad was going to the cape- he didnt end up leaving till 12 so he could've taken me to 1030 but I had no idea what time he was leaving and I thought he was leaving earlier. I think my mom made the determination that she wasnt feeling well enough to go at about 1045 the last mass was 12- so I had no way of going. theres like a brasillian mass tonight but again I have no way of going. So I think its like if you want to go and you had the intention of going but you cant then its excusable right? but If you dont want to go and dont have the intention of going and even if you could go you dont- then thats a sin right? Noel's angel
yes, if you really intended in going but cicumstances were such that you could not attend, then it is ok.
Noel's angel
if it is really bothering you, then go to Confession anyway, but it isn't necessary in this case as you fully intended to go but certain things happened which were beyond your control. Cam42
well see the thing is- We were gonna go to cape cod- then my mom got sick yesterday and we didnt know if we were gonna go or not.
Not to be a total stick in the mud about about this, but you still need to go to confession. Look at what is said....as Eremite put it from the Catechism:
The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin. (CCC 2181)
You said that you could have gone to the 10:30am. Therefore there is now a dubium. If you were asking me from a dialectical point of view, I would say that you need to go to confession and seek the priest's counselling. He will determine what is the best course of action, whether it be despensation or absolution. There was ample time to request to be taken to Mass. The evidence is thus: You were up in time to go to Mass, your father wasn't leaving until later, you weren't sure when he was leaving....your mom didn't say anything about being sick until after the 10:30 Mass had determined how ill she was, the situation is not covered. You had the obligation and the opportunity, but did not go, assuming that you could make it later. That isn't good enough to give a clear preponderance of the evidence or create reasonable doubt as to the ability to go to Mass. Now, with that being said, if Father chooses to dispense you then it is all good, but you can't (just like I can't) make that determination on my own. I would suggest going to confession and getting the proper counselling. Cam
Philippe
you had the intent of going there is no reason to go to confession because there is no sin as long as you tried your best to go. Cam, things happen and confusion happens and it just ended up being for the worst.
