argent_paladin
**Do not read unless you have a good sense of humor about the Church** Check out this link! Find out who the next pope will be, according to expert popologist, Stephen Colbert, the Daily Show's Vatican correspondent. Here's the text of the ad: Cardinal Ratzinger dicit amat magna mater ecclesia. Sed qui veritas est? Eram prognatus in Germania. Ut eram Martin Luther. Validus ecclesia est alius reformation superstes per a sausage-eating bastard? Ego Cardinal Arinze, et ego probatus is nuntius. And a translation: Cardinal Ratzinger says the great mother Church loves. But who is the truth? I was born(?) in Germany. As I was Martin Luther. The church is strong surviving the reformation by a sausage-eating bastard? I Cardinal Arinze, and I this message having been approved. Here it is in better Latin: Cardinalis Ratzingerius dicit se magnam Matrem Ecclesiam amare. Immo vero quid veri? Ille natus est in Germania. Ubi quoque erat natus iste; Martinus Lutherius. Num autem est Ecclesia satis virium ut possit superesse alii Reformationi per alterum nothum physcophagum? Cardinal Arinzeius sum, qui hunc nuntium probavi.Latin text and translation found here. With emendations from here. joemal1117
Thanks for that! I needed a good laugh. Plus reading it as it should have been properly written made the whole thing even funnier. it's good to laugh at ourselves once and awhile

Mateo el Feo
I'm not a big "Daily Show" fan, but this skit was hilarious. The "attack ads" cracked me up!

Thy Geekdom Come
That's a really bad English translation of the Latin...not even close.
Mickey's_Girl
I thought it was HYSTERICAL! Even the bad Latin part was funny. Heh heh. I sent it to my friend and she said she hadn't laughed so hard in a year. I included pictures of both men. She's not Catholic, and she goes--"IS IT TRUE?!?" I assured her that it was just a joke. argent_paladin
That's a really bad English translation of the Latin...not even close.
No, the English translation is good. It's the latin that is awful. But I thought that made it funnier. When I was listening to it I was the type of latin that I would produce: bad.
