M.SIGGA
I don't see why the Confederate flag should be outlawed just because some people use it for racist purposes. The Confederacy and everything it stood for was not inherently racist. General Robert E. Lee thought slavery should be abolished, there were black regiments in the Confederate Army, and so on. A lot of modern pro-Confederate groups emphasize the contributions of blacks and minorities to the Confederacy. Having a Confederate flag is not evil, it is not inherently racist, and just because some people are offended by it doesn't mean it is wrong. The NAACP folks should get a life. And Catholics shouldn't be so dogmatic about it because last time I checked sympathy toward minority advocacy groups that want to ban everything that offends them personally is not de fide. And my thoughts on the swastika. The swastika is an ancient symbol of life, vitality, and good luck used around the world long before Hitler ever came into power. There is a chinese church in Hawaii with swastikas ("wan-zi") on its pews dating from the 1800s. The website address for the church is www.firstchinese.org. I say that banning such symbols only increases their power. They should be de-mystified, and all this talk about "symbols of evil" should be scrapped. Just my two cents. Feel free to lynch me now. LOL no one is going to lynch you, and I don't think anyone cares that much... you are entitled to your opinion as I am intitled to mine. It's really funny how in Louisiana when the State voted to replace the Confederate Battle Flag in public buildings with the Official Confederate State Flag (the Stars and Bars) that the only groups that showed up were the KKK, the White League, and the Knights of the White Camelia to protest and uphold ''southern heritage.'' I am a proud southerner and I encourage you to support my heritage by wearing a confederate flag tie, shirt, tie, beltbuckle, or jacket to your church, your next job interview, or to the mall to show your appreciation of this great and noble part of the United States. Heck I'm part German so why don't you wear a swastika too and see what kind of reaction you get. By all means please make my people proud!!!
