Dante's Inferno

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus

Do you think Dante's Inferno is just a Poem or a Personal Revelation?

Whose translation are you reading?

Dante's Divine Comedy is my favorite piece of literature. I like Purgatorio best.

Someday I want to learn enough Italian (or.... er, whatever it's technically written in) to read the original.

Hey, that's pretty neat.

But, ugh! I forgot how creepy Inferno is.

I think the thing that I took most from the inferno is not to be sorry for the souls in hell for it is God's justice being fulfilled...

I loved reading the Inferno. I remember in high school I only got a 100 on one English test and it just happened to be a test on the Inferno. I knew that story inside and out. I want to read the other two parts of the Divine Comedy sometime, not to mention rereading the Inferno.

Well....considering that personal revelation ended with the death of the last Apostle.....

And The Divine Comedy is best read in Italian. It loses it's tambor in translation....the Cantos are so beautiful.

Dante Rocks!!!!!

A one of the English teachers at my school had her students do a project after they read the Inferno - they had to write about a person they knew who they would put in hell and why (because that's basically what Dante did, put all the people he didn't like in hell). Can you say CREEPY?

yeah its written in Itialian.

I am reading a new translation By robert pinsky. I hope to be able to read the Entire Divine Comedy but right now im only on the inferno.

i have a question though, because im not completley sure about this:

I thought Divine Revelation ended with the death of the last Apostle and that people still today could experience personal revelation?
