M.SIGGA
MATRIX REVOLUTIONS comes out today for all of you who aren't as excited as me, but this morning I turned on the t.v. and there was a local preacher man from some church in la who said supporting this movie is promoting gnosticsm and a false gospel. It does have a weird religious undertone w/ Neo being a type of savior, but I think it's harmless fun - what do you all think?
Damien
I agree with you... If its like he says it is then so is every comic book, and cartoon containing a Super Hero.
Azriel
It just goes to show, you can find hidden meaning in anything. Sheesh.
Seminarian
Protestants love looking for those kinds of things...As long as you don't leave the church to follow what the movie says, you are fine...I am going to see it in a couple of hours from now myself. I have read though that there are many religious overtones and religion like conatations according to many different movie reviews. I think the directors are catholic. Did everybody notice the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and St. Therese of Lisuex pictures in the Matrix Reloaded...If not watch closely for them when you watch the film. There is also a prayer card of St. Therese of Liseux in Spiderman. Sorry I like looking for little things like that when I watch movies. :D Enjoy the movie... Edited November 5, 2003 by Seminarian
Kilroy the Ninja
I think that if someone is going to WORSHIP Neo then there is a problem. It's just a movie. It's just a story being told. People read stuff into anything. Including tree stumps.

Just don't ask me about the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus.... Man, I'm mean....
chelle21
i loved the first Matrix, however i was greatly dissapointed in how they ruined the 2nd one, with that major scene and all, lets only pray the 3rd one isn't as horrible. ;)
Paladin D
Actually, according to an article on http://www.beliefnet.com/; The Matrix is a combination of Buddhism and Christianity.

I didn't really care much for the first one and I haven't seen the second one yet. Maybe in lieu of all the hype I will rent the second one and go see the third, but what is the "major scene?" I haven't seen the 2nd Matrix either, mainly because of the big scene. I heard it was some sort of large censored orgy. (Seriously)
notbilln
Yes, in the secound one there is what I call the "orgy" scene. Its basically a mass rave/ wet tshirt contest with a little dirty dancing thrown in. I can see how just listening to other poeple describe it could lead one's immagination to run wild, but its not a porno flic. I would thinkt hat Porn would be a little more graphic. BTW I just saw matrix revolutions( the third one that came out today). I'm not going to give anything away. There is a brief S&M party scene, It doesn't show as much as the 2nd did, but there is one innapropriate touch, that you will miss if you are not looking for it. All in all, it isn't that bad. Thosands of times better than the infamous "shower scene" in Starship troupers. Its not really gratuoitus, but not really tasteful. Its sort of a gray area. Deffinitely not something for young children. I'll admit I was a little scandalised when I first saw the "scene" in the second one. Perhaps, because the first one was so clean. Paladin D
Odd, I saw Starship Troopers on TV...didn't see no "shower scene". They probally editted it out. Edited November 6, 2003 by Paladin D
jmjtina
I just saw a friend today who said if you see the animatrix and play the video game you get the whole picture of the story. Excuse me? Who has that much time?
