Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
our school did the day of scilence. I refused to praticipate for obvious reasons. It promotes anti-christian teachings on homosexuality. It is pro-Homosexual and is therefore essieantially un-catholic. Only a couple of kids did not support the day (myself included) and some other christian and Catholic students. It is a horribile day for a bad cause. Many were pressured to praticipate in the Day of scilence by teachers, and thats just horribile.
track2004
If Day of Truth or ProLife Tshirt Day were coming up and I'd known about them maybe I'd post about them. Today is about letting people live without the fear of ending up like Matthew Shephard or hundreds of other victims of hate crimes. No one is trying to shut up the right wing. Pick something you care about and participate in a day for it's awareness. I care about my friends who can't be honest about their sexuality because some bigot is going to hurt them or the administration at their universities won't protect them like they are supposed to for every student. Having same sex attractions can't really be controlled and participating in a same sex relationship is wrong (according to the Catholic Church), but NO ONE SHOULD BE PHYSICALLY HURT OR SOCALLY SHUNNED FOR IT. FilmGuy127
so you would never. support a day that is about respect, freedom, charity, ending violence, protecting a minority group, securing equal protection under the law, and DEFENDING the right to free speech? Cause thats what you are saying... The day is about fighting bigotism. Just as a refresher that is...
Bigot One who through ignorance adheres obstinately to a social, political, or religious belief, opinion, or practise, and is intolerant of others who hold different views. -New Catholic Dictionary
I think that is something we should all fight. Don't You?
cmotherofpirl
ALL groups need protection, not just vocal special interest groups. The day is not about respect and freedom, its about a minority imposing its views on the rest of society, and stifling those people who disagree with it. There is a big stretch from have a same -sex attraction to promoting it as normal lifestyle.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
There is a big stretch from have a same -sex attraction to promoting it as normal lifestyle.
true story. curtins
yeah GO CMOTHER!!! im not against gays- just against gay actions and this is a huge thing to get gay marriage and to courupt ppl to further thing homosexuality is right and to further impose their views and try to bring down marriage and the family. I read in my local paper about this how they did it at my town's high school and other surrounding area high school- it really sickend me- but you know what? some ppl wrote on the signs supporting it- SCREAM AGAINST SILENCE and so today I wore a peice of tape which I wrote SCREAM AGAINST SILENCE on. and like someone said- how bout a day for the unborn??? ohhhnoooo thats a womans "choice" we gotta keep praying and keep fighting take the fight to the enemy- no longer can we stay passive
Guest Eremite
When's the Day of Silence for those of a pedophile orientation?
crusader1234
We had an interesting discussion about this today. Basically, after learning about what the Day of Silence was, and what the Day of Truth was, and being reminded of the Catholic Church's stance on homosexuality... I came to the following conclusion.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
The day of Silence, as explained to me, is about promoting respect, compassion, and sensitivity to people whom are margianalized due to their sexual preference. Its about showing respect to people who are generally disrespected, not about promoting a lifestyle. According to points brought up in class, its not about special rights or silencing Catholic viewpoints (as many interpret it it appears) - its basically spending a day showing respect to those around us. So, granted the 'Day of Silence' is carried out where you live in the context of its original purpose, wouldn't that be fulfilling our obligation to respect and show compassion and sensitivity? Aloysius
I think it's all very disgusting and stupid... I wanna just go flee to the desert where I could find real good silence a day of silence to promote people feeling normal about publically identifying themselves by some sort of sexual "orientation".. I'm all for being against violence and intolerance et cetera, but there are much more complex issues involved here. ehh.. whatever.. I'd never participate in something like this. crusader1234
a day of silence to promote people feeling normal about publically identifying themselves by some sort of sexual "orientation"
According to what I heard, it wasn't about promoting people regarding homosexuality as normal. I thought it was about promoting respect.
