homeschoolmom
Man.... you know it's rubbish when the argument is that almost every single priest alive today is not validly ordained!
I would guess that means that the gates of hell have prevailed...
Donna
It was from a certain indult community itself that I first heard about the likely invalid (as they said) ordination rites. Dave, I'm very sorry to hear that the situation you wrote about w/ the former parish some time ago, deteriorated to such an extent. In hindsight, it looks as though you're in a better place now. The priest's comment is interesting. Still bizarre to me that Mr. S and Mr. M will be debating.
Dave
It was from a certain indult community itself that I first heard about the likely invalid (as they said) ordination rites.
An indult community made that claim?! They should be reported to the bishop. The Pope's encyclical Ecclesia Dei said that the indult should be generously granted PROVIDED THAT the priests and laity don't deny the validity of the Novus Ordo or the validity of Vatican II. Of course, bishops have to give permission for the Tridentine Mass to be said in their diocese, and if there's a danger that people would get such radical, heterodox ideas in their heads then the bishops have every right to refuse. Donna
I'm sure they reported themselves to the bishop - and loudly! There were no clergy involved. But it wasn't the whole congregation by any means; there are completely different stripes of folks there. Bewildering situation to the newcomer, I imagine. The indult communties I have seen are fragmented; and the congregation changes from time to time; people are from all parts of the surrounding area and don't seem to much know one another. Dave
I suppose that it just goes to show you that you'll find "cafeteria Catholics" in virtually every Catholic parish. The only difference is that in Novus Ordo parishes they lean to the left, and in Tridentine parishes they lean toward the right.
