Conversion due to JP2?

Hey, all. Now as Pope Iohannes Paulus Maximus has passed away, I'm wondering if there are any converts here to whom he was an important factor in your conversion.

Did Pope John Paul II directly or indirectly influence your conversion to (or from) Catholicism?

Be Not Afraid!

I gave a Baptist friend the "Naked without Shame (Summary of the Theology of the Body)" by Christopher West. And we talked about it, and he decided not to go to a Baptist seminary, and eventually he decided to convert. He entered the Church this past Easter. Blessed be God!

Theology of the Body totally opened the door. His holiness and love also helped.

PS. Props to Christopher West, too.

When I was converting, I was watching the Holy Father in the Holy Land. I really just felt an attraction to the Church, but the prayers of the Holy Father at the Wailing Wall...helped the process.

Yes, John Paul II was very influential in my conversion ... the TOTB, as MG mentioned, along with other of his writings as well. What a beautiful gift God gave the church ...

I know that all the recent events have gotten me interested in Catholicism. And I'm actually thinking about converting.

Recent events as in the Pope's funeral and looking back at his life? Interesting.

What religion are you now, Chrissy?

John Paul the Great's passing effected me more than I ever thought it could. It made me dwell upon his piety and conviction. For me, his death was the straw that broke the camel's back and has become the catalsyt for my return home to the catholic church. Even from the beyond the grave, he still inspires miracles in Christ's name. God bless him.

Chrissy and return2truth are in my prayers as well!

I entrust you to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Mary will never leave you astray, but will sacrifice herself for you as a mother does for her child. You are both the children of God!

He was indirectly responsible, in that, after my initial attraction to Catholicism, I found him to be such a bedrock of faith and morals that I was proud of him even though I was not Catholic.
